Doctor Who 13th Sonic Screwdriver - Jodie Whittaker - with Lights, Sounds, and Motorized Movement

I've been a Doctor Who fan (a Whovian) since about 1990. I was introduced to the classic series after it had already ended. I eagerly watched the Paul McGann relaunch in 1996 and then I was elated to hear of the new series in the early 2000's. My Doctor Who related collecting has transitioned from VHS to DVD and has grown to now included the toy line. I have each Doctor's action figure (minus Jodie Whittaker, which is newly released or soon to release). Additionally, I have collected each of the Doctor's trusty (plot devices) Sonic Screwdrivers. So, when the 13th Doctor built a new sonic out of scraps, I knew a new toy would soon be added to my collection. Here's some feedback:1. I purchased this device new from Amazon.2. I purchased the device for around $20. I generally try to get them at a more discounted rate.3. Size-wise the sonic is smaller than Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi's models. It's slightly larger than the Tennant model.4. Appearance-wise it is very unique. It looks like it is made from scraps of metal and has a weathered/tarnished look. The crystal like head contains what looks like metal veins.5. The sonic has 2 buttons. The first button provides the standard sonic sound with lights. The second button produces a chirping type of sound, lights and the crystal sonic head rotates (that's a first). The sound is loud and clear, the lights are bright (orange) and the rotating head is a nice addition.6. The handle has some uniqueness outside of appearance. The handle is 2 separate pieces with a swivel type joint. The end piece has the ability to rotate about 180 degrees.7. It seems to be a decent quality, but I primarily use the sonics for display. For the price, I'd not be happy if it broke from normal (yet aggressive) regular play.All-in-all it is a nice addition to the collection. It definitely stands out as one of the most unique sonics of the lot. It might not really open any doors, but it never stops me from trying.

So for folks who just skim: If you're a diehard collector and want one of the really fancy, 100% accurate pieces (like, show-replica quality)? This isn't it, BUT....I would still get this, too, as an everyday sonic, for casual cosplay, and just for fun. It's not expensive, it's excellent quality, has multiple functions, and is really, really, REALLLLLY nice. And if you've got a kid who loves Thirteen? Get it. Right now. Just do. They will love the crap out of this, and you don't have to worry about them damaging an expensive collectible.Now, for a more detailed analysis for those who want an in-depth review:So I'm a huge Whovian and I adore Jodie Whittaker's Doctor. I assembled all the pieces for my costume, but like an idiot, forgot her sonic until last. So, of course, I rushed onto Amazon to grab it. I wasn't sure how great the quality would be, because there's a very real difference between quality of the older Doctor's sonic screwdrivers out there from product to product, but in a hurry and with not a lot of cash, I went for it and I'm SO glad I did.This little sonic surpassed all my expectations, especially for the cost.There's *two* buttons on this sonic, with different functions and sounds, one that makes the head twist and spin (both functions light up) as if the sonic is analyzing data, and the other for the usual sonic sound when said screwdriver is actually performing one of it's countless functions. It looks wonderful, it feels great.I would say to be careful where the main body of the screwdriver morphs into the "handle" area towards the end, as that part is a little thinner and might be more breakable there, but honestly it's not going to break from usage or a drop. It would probably take being stepped on or sat on very forcefully to bust it.My only real beef is one side has screw holes where they put it together. Which, honestly? Isn't *that* terrible if you're not going for film-accuracy or don't have OCD like I do. But I'm going to use sculpey and modeling paints to touch it up, should be a quick fix, it's really not a big deal. Hurray for being a nerd.All in all, you 150% can't beat this for the price, at all. I paid $20 for Eleven's screwdriver, and it was beyond tiny and didn't even make sound. This just *isn't* one of those throw togethers that sucks. It really is a great product. I can't say that enough.

Gave to a Dr Who fan and they loved it

No matter what you think of the 13th Doctor (like Marmite you either love her or hate her), this toy is great and looks perfect alongside my other DW sonics. Seven20 went the extra mile over the Character Options sonic, so the crystal actually rotates. Only downside, the packaging got squashed so I can't display it. Amazon really should dispatch this in a box and not a "jiffy envelope".

An OK interpretation of the 13th doctors Sonic screwdriver. Looks a toy, the numerous screws on one side hammer home that impression. Makes the right sounds lights are bright and animated. Love the rotating Crystal when you use the diagnostic function.Ok for low rent cosplay and general mucking about, also nice for your young Doctor who fan.

Had 2 buy this im a big doctor who fan, need 2 buy the other sonic screwdriver from the other doctors😃 plus it looks amazing & works very well.

Huge doctor who fans in this house. I have bought other versions of Sonic screwdrivers but none as cool as this one.Besides the typical Sonic sound, there is another scanning/ computing like sounds. Fits nice in your hand with it's shape. Didn't think about that till it arrived.Get one, it's awesome and so my fun to play with.

I purchased this sonic for Halloween this year. First, I absolutely love it. The sounds (2 different specific ones) are great. The light is bright. And the motion action on this one is really cool. The "crystal" spins. Second, it isn't completely accurate. It has a woodgrain print finish in the plastic. She made hers from spoons and metal bits. There shouldn't be wood grain. Past that I have no complaints.

Seen a lot of bad reviews for this product, saying they received the wrong one??? I myself received the seven20 sonic screwdriver and it is awesome!!!!

Le tournevis (de Seven20 avec le cristal qui tourne) est franchement assez réussi je trouve.La couleur à l'activation donne vraiment bien tant à l'avant au niveau du cristal que sur les côtés par les "fenêtres".Les 2 sons sont bien mais par rapport aux versions précédentes (11eme et 12eme: 4 sons chacun) je les trouves moins bien et en trop faible quantité.Avec le deuxième bouton le cristal tourne bien et le bruit du moteur est marqué (presque trop…)Le tournevis semble un peu fragile en main et donne un effet très plastique mais l'extrémité de la poigné qui se tourne permet une bonne prise en main.Petit bémol pour les collectionneurs qui souhaiterai le garder dans l'emballage: il est plutôt fragile, sans particularités et en carton.Au final bien pour les fans inconditionnels du 13eme bien que plus petit et de moins bonne qualité que les versions précédentes.
