Ignore the reviews because I will be watching it for the third time tonight !
I cannot remember the last time, I went back to see a movie in the cinemas whilst it was still on release. I almost decided against it because of the poor reviews but I'm glad I didn't because this is THE movie of the year for me. I was never a Queen Fan just an admirer of a great group and some songs that I listened to when I was growing up. The chap that played Freddie deserves an Oscar and the guy that played Brian May was unbelievable; he looks and sounds just like him.Oh but what a film. What a joy ! The absolute coup de grace is the Live Aid performance that literally had me in tears. The whole scene is recreated right down to the pepsi cups on the piano (watch the performance online and then see the movie and you will see what I mean). The 72,000 strong crowd who all synchronised their hands for the performance of Radio Gaga gave me goosebumps. I recall everyone talking about Queen's Live Aid performance in 1985 and the fact that it was a show stopper. I was caught up studying for my A Levels so missed it !!Since its release last week, I have found myself becoming a true fan, watching interviews and other performances of this great band. Please please do not miss this movie. Rest in peace Freddie. You were a true showman.

Unmissable!
Can a film change your life? Quite possibly! After seeing this twice already at the cinema, I want to see it again and again!Loved every moment - an emotional rollercoaster ride of drama, laughs, tears and elation. Took me a few hours to come back down to earth I felt breathless. On second viewing you realise what a sensational performance by Rami Malek this is. As the films goes on he seems to become more and more like Freddie that you actually believe it.Gwilym Lee IS Brian May. Never seen nor heard such a likeness. All the mannerisms, expressions & everything!Ignore all the trailers and reviews. This is a film to be enjoyed by EVERYONE!The finale is incredible!Just utterly WONDERFUL!

Makes you realise what a loss Freddie Mercury was as a showman and the music industry...............
I am a HUGE Queen fan and the trailers for this were excellent. As usual 'critics' putting the film down, but as it was released, a lot of the general public were saying what an excellent emotional film it was and I have to agree. It was better than I thought it would be.Telling the story of how Freddie Mercury (and all three other band members of Queen) rose to super stardom in pretty much no time at all during the seventies, leading up to and including their 'Magnum Opus' performance at Live Aid.The casting has to be said is absolutely faultless especially Gwilym Lee playing Brian May who is uncannily just like him in looks and voice. Ben Hardy excellent as Roger Taylor. Joe (Timmy in Jurassic Park) Mazello playing John Deacon. A fantastic Lucy Boynton playing Mercurys wife Mary Austin who gives real weight during some quiet emotional scenes. Then we have a possible award winning performance by Rami Malek playing Freddie Mercury. Having seen him in Mr Robot he definitely had the acting ability to do this role, but its his actions and body language which make him superb to play Freddie. I am so glad Sacha Baron Cohen didn't get the gig as he only wanted to focus on Freddie and not the other band members (would have been a HUGE mistake) and as Brian May pointed out, he is far too associated with comedy and I think that would have put the public off. Anyway, it doesn't matter as Malek, like the other cast, is incredible in their roles. Although the public are saying he deserves awards recognition, I bet this wont happen going off previous performances I've seen from other actors in other films who I thought deserved praise for their performance. We'll see??The film tells the events from 1970 all the way up to that incredible performance at Live Aid in 1985. This film is more than just nostalgia though. It is nostalgic at the start, but then we get the story of their rise, Freddies wild partying which alienates the rest of the band, his diagnosis, then for me the main event where their music set for Live Aid is performed almost in its entirety. I went to see this in IMAX and I tell you now, I actually thought I was at Wembley as the sound, look and feel was just incredible. A fantastic way to finish the film and I really wanted to get up and start dancing, it made me feel that good.A lot of people complaining it doesn't go into Freddies REAL behind the scene antics, but to be honest, I didn't want to and it goes for the same where the film ends in 1985. If it had gone any further past this point, it would have been a very depressing film to watch, especially with how Freddie ended up looking in his final years. This film tells the story of Queen at their height and this is how I want to remember Queen and Freddie Mercury. The most emotional scene for me is where Freddie is diagnosed with HIV and the track 'Who Wants To Live Forever' plays over the scene. The most perfect (and only) song that could be used for this scene and as I am a huge Highlander fan, it made it even more emotional.I can't recommend this film enough. I came out of it feeling elated and sad at the same time and it just proves what a loss Freddie Mercury was to the industry and the world. Out of all the music acts no longer with us, I would only want to see three: Elvis Presley, Karen Carpenter and Freddie Mercury with Queen. The final song on the end credits is 'The Show Must Go On' and with this film, it will make sure that's what happens with Freddies and Queens legacy as artists.Absolutely fantastic and the second film this year involving music which blew me away. More please!!

Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind...
The waiting for this film seemed eternity. Don't stop me now, but I'm going for a third viewing of the delight that is Bohemian Rhapsody next week. It's a kind of magic. It will rock you and let you escape from reality. It will open your eyes, you'll float around in ecstacy. You'll be tapping your feet to the sound of the beat. You made me laugh, you made me cry. I've fallen in love with this movie. Its just excitation, all through the night, it's a celebration of one great band, and one legendary lead singer. This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us... Bohemian Rhapsody.Inside my heart was breaking, from tears my make-up was flaking, but my smile still stays on. The show must go on.

There are mixed reviews - make your own mind up - I did !!
Whether you are a fan or not this film gives an overall picture of a band who became the greatest band in the world - which is what they planned to do from the beginning. The portrayal of Freddie by Rami Malek is superb, when they did the Live Aid scenes his eyes were shining just as much as Freddie's were on the actual day. The film is made in a sensitive way because Freddie was sensitive - what you saw on stage was not the man in real life. I've been a fan for 40+ years and this film does not disappoint. The music used in the film was fantastic. Cannot praise this film enough. Like the previous review I would definitely give acclaim to the actor who portrayed Brian May - he looked, sounded and acted just like the real thing. Excellent.
