Braun Series 5 5195cc

I am very happy with this shaver. And I love the cleaning system. It keeps the shaver clean and working well. Recently the side trimmer blade did fall apart and I cannot find a replacement for it, but the actual shaver continues to work well and I am very happy with it.

I have been through a few different razors over the years. The rotary ones work well, but tended to give me a bit of a razor burn. The other linear razor on the market left clippings everywhere.I finally come to a point in life where I could afford better razors and I chose the Braun. For me, it works excellently. Nice close shave without tearing up my skin. Does not leave clippings everywhere. Relatively quiet. The cleaning/charging station is a nice touch. I don't have to mess with the shaver and it is always ready to go when I need it.

Good product

this is a good electric razor. I find it more effective than the higher priced models such as the 7 an 9 series that use the sonic technology. I'm ok with the fact that this model has the cleaner unit. I just take the cleaning cartridge out after each use (about every 2 days) so that the cleaner doesn't evaporate quicker. The cleaning cartridge lasts much longer this way, and the cleaner does help maintain the sharpness of the blades and lubrication of the cutting component. Braun will probably phase it out soon though as they always seem to get rid of anything that works well in the name of progress to push the higher priced models.

Working great so far. Much better than the 15 year old three headed Norelco I've been using. This shaver doesn't need to be pressed into the skin with alot pressure to achieve a close shave as some negative reviewers obviously did, it's just a matter of technique and understanding the way your own beard hairs grow.I'm still getting used to the trimmer as this Braun is heavier and weighted differently than the old Norelco. For cleaning I will pop the foil off and carefully tap it against the sink every day or two and only use the solution tank once a week or so.

I am deeply disappointed with the Braun razor due to two critical issues:1. Replacement Blade Availability: Finding replacement head blades for this razor is extremely challenging. The scarcity of these parts makes maintaining the device nearly impossible.2. Excessive Cost: The replacement blades are prohibitively expensive. When combined with the initial high cost of the razor, the overall investment becomes unjustifiable.As a result, what was once a significant purchase has become essentially a useless tool. The difficulty in sourcing replacement parts renders the entire razor impractical. I cannot recommend this brand to potential buyers and will definitely not purchase Braun razors again.

My last Braun shaver gave me over 10 years of great shaves. I bought this one to replace my old shaver, since I felt I was in need of an update...not because the other one failed in any way. It was still holding a charge and working like it was brand new. This new shaver is nice and refined and works just like I would expect the Braun to work. Shaves very close for an electric, and I have a feeling it will last me another 10 plus years.

So I had a series 7 for about 8 solid years of everyday use and lost it during a deployment. Bought a Series 9 to replace it. Believe it or not, I liked the 7 much better. I left the 9 somewhere by accident during a recent move, so I bought this series 5. In conclusion: this series 5 and the series 7 have been my favorite electric shavers I've ever used. It's well worth the money.
