It's a fun toy though
One of the buttons on the remote control is sticky and sometimes doesn't work at all. It's a fun toy though.

pretty good
I have lots of other cars so I would know a good car from a bad one.If you are wondering about the spltting body it just splits apart whenever. Its a four wheel drive car just like the Tyco Rebounds[exept the air rebound, which my brother got and it is very bad]it goes in grass well. Its pretty small and it scratches easily I got it all scratched up after 4 minutes of driving outside and i'm not reckless with radio controled cars either. Its a fast car but its low to the ground so that takes away from the off-roadness.It has red, yellow, and blue lights that flash when you spin,it looks like a whirlwind thats all colory.Oh yeah, and moms and dads are complaining that they had to buy battery packs,it says right on the box that it needs a TMH flexpack.

What no batteries! Another company taking advantage of us.
I purchased two of these for my nephews and it does not come with the required special Tyco batteries. I think all kids toys that require a special battery come with at least one so the kid can play with the darn thing!Other than that what a wonderful toy it has all the marks of a great toy. They really enjoy them.

No Battery ... No Fun
My son's Christmas was spoiled because we could not find the battery anywhere in town (Houston). Two weeks after Christmas we still have not found it despite the fact that all the major stores told us to try again after the new yr. I plan to order it online today. Hopefully he gets to enjoy the toy. If he had not thrown the packaging away, I would have returned it! Tyco should have clearly stated that the special battery was NOT included on the box.

It does need a special battery that unfortunately wasnt included but it's worth it.
I had one of these when I was a kid after my parents returned the giant Hummer H2 that was all the rage that holiday season(it sucked). The vertigo was an absolute blast that my parents still talk about because we didn't know what to expect from it. Growing up I ran the hell out of it everywhere I went. I'm honestly probably going to get another one for my nephew to play with when he gets a little older. (but until then I'm going to enjoy it again haha)

I have beaten the tar of this beast!
My wife bought me this toy for Christmas of '03... it still gets frequent playtime. This car is an absolute beast! I love toys that you can just beat the snot out of and they keep on ticking. Over a year later, the plastic is gouged to hell and the tires are a bit worn from frequent use, but it runs as good as it did on day one. This is impressive, considering what my sons and I have done to this stoic little monster:-Drove it down 10 contrete steps (multiple times)-Flipped it off the hood of my car-Strapped a smoking stick firework to the top and drove it around the mall parking lot on Independence Day.-Kids have accidentally stepped on it countless times (I chase them around the yard with it)-Driven at the feet of friends who then punt it away from them several feet, landing with a resounding SMACKSo its safe to say that I have tested its mettle, and those are just the things I can think of right now. I drive it into the kids' room when they're playing and they squeal with delight as this unstoppable creature tears through all the toys on the ground. It spits legos out in its wake as it rips and flips though everything around it. I chase them with it and they flee in feigned terror, their every attempt to escape foiled by the car's ability to flip and go the opposite direction instantly without warning. It can go over grass, dirt, carpet, mud, jumps, and small curbs if you hit them at an angle. The twin motors that run this thing are surprising powerful. The motors drive in the same gear/speed whichever way you drive the car, so backwards/forwards/upside down are all the same speed. You can flip the car in mid-run or ram something to flip it. It can change directions on a dime. We've named mine Tantrum, because when its eating toys and stalking boys it looks like its having a fit as I alter its course in pursuit.Need more to do? You can do wonderfully wicked spin tricks with this thing. If you push the controls in opposite directions intermittently, it will cow-kick anything around it. If you hold the controls down in this position, it will stand up on its nose, spread itself into a V, and its inner section lights up as it spins with three different colors, creating a vivid and spectacular light show that will impress just about anyone who sees it.There are few negatives. The car is heavier in the front than the back, so it's easy to spin out by accident when trying to turn at high speeds going forward. You can drive the car backwards for increased steering control (backwards is no slower than forwards, remember, so its not a big deal). It takes a little time to get used to how to control it when its upside down, but I adjusted quickly. I wish the battery would last longer than 20-30 minutes, and I'm tempted to buy a second one for longer play times. If you try to take the Vertigo through grass or mud backwards, it will occasionally split open into its V mode and get stuck; it does this more when the battery is dying out. The range of the controller also leaves something to be desired, most likely because the antenna on the Vertigo's body is internal. You can't go wrong with this car. You can give it to a toddler and they can't break it. Go ahead, whip it down the stairs! Jump it off a dumpster (I did). Ram it into walls! They've done a great job of making a powerful, durable and enjoyable r/c car for a reasonable price. Finally, to all the folks complaining about the battery: 1)The high-end Tyco R/C cars rarely come with the required battery pack. They sell the packs sperately so that you can use it on multiple cars should you choose to buy more than one; they're saving the consumer money. 2) It is very clearly printed on the box that you need to buy the flexpak seperately. My wife bought me this, and she knew that she needed to get the battery and how to get it (online) with no problems. Don't underrate the toy because you didn't read the box.

It LOOKS cool...
Like nearly everyone else, our son was extremely disappointed when Santa brought this and there was no battery. We didn't see the VERY small printing on the box for the battery. Now that I have finally ordered the battery on-line I am FLOORED that it costs 3/4 what we paid for the r/c alone! Really a disappointment. I hope that Tyco will reconsider the way they package their toys.

Incredible toy
This R/C vehicle from TYCO is fantastic! Tricks done by the Vertigo R/C are stupendous and really fun. All in the family were amazed with all the stunts and lights from the vehicle. When the vehicle spins (it opens up and changes its normal state with a combination of buttons on the remote control), it first lights up in blue; later red lights are lit, and finally yellow lights are lit. Altogether, while spinning, the only thing you can see is a beautiful 3-colored figure formed by all the lights. We are very pleased with this purchase. I really hope the toy lasts a long time. Its fun for kids and also for adults. It requires some skill to drive the R/C, so it's not good for very young kids (8+ age recommended). The battery charge lasts about 40 minutes on duty. First 2 charges require 5 hours of charging. Subsequent charges requiere about 4 hours. Great battery pack - no memory problems.
