Sony MDS-JE480B MiniDisc deck- Black

Sound quality on playback is not good. There is a constant hissing noise which is heard on the recording.

Excellent machine - can't understand why they are not being manufactured any more. Packaging and delivery very good.

Good delivery. Does everything I want.On the debit side it is a bit large and takes up a lot of space.Could do with more connections at the back. Overall I am happy with it.

Any one buying this machine has a great digital recorder at a great price. The Sony JE480B has all the facilities of a more exspensive recorder, longplay recording, Shuttle, Track erase etc, and a great play back sound. The only small gripe I have is that this recorder does'nt have a digital output, but at this price you can't really complain. all in all a great entry level machine from Sony. Well worth spending your money on.

minidiscs are so much better and robust than cds and this player is superb. why oh why dont sony promote minidisc more and why we can't buy albums on minidisc instead of crap cds i don't knowlike betamax minidisc is surely doomed unless sony give up the royalties like phillips did with the cassette tape which let's face it were awful compared with 8 trackcome on sony, this is the future

The first time i looked at this work of both electronic and physical magnificent, i was amazed. i thought it would be like the previous sony minidisc players- bulky and hefty machines with sound quality that could be matched by a horse throated sea gull screaching at a terrified boy over his ice-cream. the minute i turned on the MDS-JE480 i was gob smaked to say the least. the sound quality was both well defined and also loud anough to blow someone's clothes off. i was startled with the recording quality aswell. my friends were always over grovelling for me to lend them it for the weekend, bribes for it started to get more and more often, obviously i refused them.the fact that this product is nothing like its contempories shows it up as the best mini disc stack for its price i think you'll find in the world
