Note that the working load is 2600 lb; the breaking strength is 4500 lb. I would not use this for a boat heavier than the working load. Some people have said that they use it for much heavier boats. A strap that breaks under that much force can send the snap hook out like a whip and seriously injure or even kill a person. I prefer a strap to a cable for that reason, but even a breaking strap can cause severe injury. The strap is 20 ft long so this can be used only for a shorter boat/trailer. I am using it for an 800 lb load.The snap hook is zinc coated which will help reduce corrosion. It seems large enough for the snap to be able to close over the U-bolts of most small boats. If the snap hook does not completely close over the U-bolt, you should not be using this strap.The strap is packaged neatly. It is sturdy and easy to attach to a winch with the end loop.It is much neater to use than a cable. The reinforcing seems strong.I am happy with this purchase at this time. I expect the strap to last through many seasons.There is no description about the content of the strap and its protection against the deteriorating effects of water and sunlight. I think it is polyester. In that case, it would be more sun and water resistant and less likely to stretch. One reviewer says that it does not stretch.

This was SUPER easy to install, and replaced the one on our boat trailer perfectly. I did it all by myself in less than 20 min. The only thing I needed was a good socket wrench to get off the bolt. Our previous strap was tearing and I was nervous about it suddenly ripping. This clasp is easy to use and a huge improvement. A great investment in your safety and peace of mind.
