Perfect for 4
Perfect in a portable or permanent setting. You can cook up 6-8 chicken breasts for fajitas on this thing. It’s great!

Buyer beware junk
I purchased the Camp Chef Versatop 14 in 2023, and my experience has been wholly disappointing. Initially, the griddle top had a pin hole from a bad weld in the grease trough, causing hot oil to drip dangerously during use. While Camp Chef replaced it promptly, the replacement was uneven and warped, which I only noticed too late for any action. Additionally, the spark electrode failed right out of the box, requiring significant adjustment to get it working. Having used and sold many Camp Chef products over the years, I expected this product to surpass others in quality, especially given its price point. Unfortunately, this experience fell short of my expectations, challenging my perception of the brand’s quality.

Love it, but know how it works
Regarding the "warped griddle top" complaints, you should know that this IS NOT the same rolled top as their other griddle products. It is much thinner and lighter, and the top IS GOING TO WARP when it's heated, even at lower temps. The top is well made, but the metal is not thick rolled steel, but rather a thinner sheet steel much like a Lodge brand steel pan that is NOT their typical cast iron. The benefits are that it is much lighter (and thus more portable), and heats/cools much faster, which saves you precious gas when cooking... a huge benefit if using a small 1lb propane cylinder. The heat is very even, much better than using the thicker and heavier griddle on their Explorer type stoves with the round 30k Btu/hr burners. It does cook well, but is more like pan cooking and not like cooking on a heavy griddle surface.Other things to to consider:The Blackstone Griddle brass adapter does not fit the Camp Chef griddle. If you want to use a standard grill tank (or RV quick connect), you'll have to do a bit of gas fitting to adapt it (not recommended unless you are a qualified gas pipe fitter). But, if you have access to a good hardware store, it can be adapted to a standard grill regulator or RV quick connect, and thus bypassing the 1 lb cylinder regulator it comes with. Or you can buy an adapter to put the high pressure (unregulated) propane from a grill tank into the existing regulator. The griddle top warping can be mitigated by adding a spacer to one corner so it is level when hot. There are some solutions on Youtube, but things vary a bit with temperature, and I've not found a perfect solution. I'd give it 5 stars if the warping issue could be fully resolved.Note that the heat deflector of this griddle top is rectangular to match the burner pattern, and adding their Explorer 14 inch series heavier griddle top will not provide even heat due to having a round heat deflector.Overall this is a well made product that works well. But it would be a 5 star product if they offered a version with the thick griddle top with the right heat deflector, and fixed the warping issue with the top provided.

No seasoning needed...
Outstanding griddle top that only required a quick rinse with warm water(to remove any residual manufacturing oil etc.) before use. First use was in breezy conditions and the Camp Chef performed flawlessly. Highly recommend this stove.

Good idea, but plates don't fit well
I built a very expensive overland kitchen slide system around this thinking I could have the best of two cooking methods with one unit. It has since been torn down and replaced with a system built around a Coleman stove.Pros:Versatile unit and can be easily interchanged with other tops. I bought this with a grill top so I can carry only one base and have multiple uses. Plenty of surface cook area for a small group of people. Plenty of heat. The cooking surfaces heat up quickly and maintain the heat well. Ignition is decent and reliable.Cons:It's a big unit. The base is THICK. Yes you can leave some cookware home, but you end up with large tops that are a lot harder to pack and store. The griddle plate isn't smooth and things will get stuck to it. It feels like cast iron, but it certainly doesn't behave like one. Believe me, the pancakes do not come off looking like those pictured. My griddle plate isn't flat or warped a bit as it will not sit perfectly on the base. It wobbles a lot! Unless you have the unit leveled correctly, the grease from the grill top will leak out and never make it to the drip pan. There isn't a channel to guide the grease drips for the grill top so they'll run to the lowest point. There aren't any half-size tops so you're stuck with one cooking option at a time. Conclusion:Good idea, but poorly executed. I would not buy these again and would not recommend this product. Yes it saves having to pack a few more items, but this system takes up more space than the cookware you didn't pack. It won't save you any time, in fact it'll make cooking a lot more challenging if you're not just strictly grilling or using just the skillet. For the price point, you'd be better to get a good tabletop grill and separate stove and be able to use them both at the same time.
