Reviewer assists stranded motorists for a living. Product Failed to work on multiple vehicles.
Part of my job responsibilities include assisting stranded motorists. I am very experienced with jumping vehicles.I am familiar with and very attracted to this jump box due to it's benefits over a normal jump box. I do not like to charge my jump box and keep it fully charged in my trunk in FL heat waiting for it to explode. This product makes more sense for most people.I tried to jump 2 separate 4 cylinder vehicles on 2 separate occasions. On both occasions, the volts stopped climbing at 11 volts. On both occasions, I swapped the charger to a separate working vehicle to try to charge this product. Again, this product would not charge past 11 volts. Both times it did not jump start the dead vehicle. I then jumped both vehicles with normal jump boxes. This product is an expensive waste of money. I really wanted it to work out but it did not.

Now “THIS” is “THE” solution to jump start in winter!
Woooofffff!!! This is the answer to jump starters!!I drive my car very little, but when I do need it, the battery is drained from the cold freezing weather.I tried Noco lithium ion jumpers, but they too die in the cold!!!This ultra capacitor is starting my big suv Toyota Sequoia 5.7L like effortless! Boom!I’m amazed!!! And the best of all? It can stay out in the cold car waiting to be used, it doesn’t get drained from the cold weather!!! This device is sick! A must have!!It takes a battery with only 9 Volts left - not enough to start the engine, more than enough juice to fill up the capacitors! Then the device dumps REAL 800CCA ( Cold cranking amps) which stars the engine in a blink!!! I’m speechless!!!

Magic Alien Technology: Jump Start WITHOUT HELP by CHARGING the EMPTY PACK off your "DEAD" CAR BATTERY in mere MOMENTS!
This is a very good product. It uses super capacitors instead of a battery. I like mine a lot and have use it several times. My car has a very small battery (like imagine the size of a lawn mower or motorcycle battery) so it is prone to dying suddenly without much warning (thanks car engineers!). The pack rides with me in the trunk all the time, and it has saved me from waiting for AAA late at night, or in the rain a few times. Before this I was usually stuck begging for help from strangers (which dosen't work so good in 2018) or waiting maybe an hour for AAA under the best circumstances. With this pack I can get going, on my own, in about 5-7 minutes max.The advantages are:1) You can usually get yourself running, without help, even if the pack is completely discharged AND YOUR CAR BATTERY is nearly dead in under 7 minutes. Seriously...think about this...Its like awesomely awesome jump start magic with super awesome sauce on it!2) The super capacitors can accumulate charge off a nearly dead car battery (I think 2.5-3 volts minimum) in a short amount of time (like 2-3 minutes max) and then discharge all the absorbed energy all at once in a few seconds to jump you.3) The pack is light weight (compared to a lead acid setup) It weighs about 5 lbs.4) The pack wont "wear out" like a battery, and charge and discharge cycles don't effect super capacitors (10+ years of use or 10,000+ uses is a realistic lifetime for a device of this nature, and probably way more).5) The pack charge up times and discharge amperage output are not impacted by temperature (this thing charges fast, and pumps big cold cranking cranking amps when in sub zero cold temps, or ultra hot desert temps).6) The pack form factor is relatively small, its about the size of maybe a hard cover dictionary (remember those?). Its easy to toss in the trunk and forget about till you need it.7) They printed a summary of the usage instructions on the back of the pack so you don't have to try to remember the little steps.8) This is revolutionary jump start pack technology, and it really is totally awesome! The disadvantages are:1) Cost is a bit high. Given the theoretical lifespan this is probably a one time hit (how they say: buy once, cry once?).2) A little different than using jumper cables or a lead acid jump pack - gotta charge first, and have to let the pack refresh charge a little between cranking attempts (if the first attempt dosen't turn the car over). Once you get used to it, this isn't really an issue though.3) 12v systems only I think.4) The pack discharges itself relatively quickly - minutes to hours maybe days. Since it charges so fast off a nearly dead battery, this isn't really a significant issue.4) It would be nice if it came with a fitted case....or pouch.5) It would be nice if the cables and clamps could easily "disconnect" from the pack body...they are kind of odd, dangling off like they do, all in the way during storage, and what not, and not long enough to wrap around the box and about that cable length....I might have made the clamp cables a bit longer so the pack could be placed on the windshield of the car so you can see the charge status lights while you are sitting inside the car (you know - while it rains outside the car). For me the disadvantages weren't worth subtracting a star. Purchasing wise, Amazon was awesome, as usual!

No battery!
Pros:1. VERY powerful. I’ve started large diesel trucks with this jump box. Barely struggled.2. Good capacity for smaller engines that are having a hard time to start.3. Capacitors don’t wear out the way batteries do.Cons:1. Slow to charge. The larger capacity means the small DC to DC converter inside takes longer to bring to a full charge.2. Much higher self discharge than the smaller version and the reason why I give this a four star instead of five.3. Feels a little cheap. I don’t see the membrane switches lasting long.

DOA, but I fixed it, now works fine
Poor quality control. The unit was not functional when arrived, but I was in the middle of relocation and packed it away somewhere. Two years later I found it and decided to repurpose ultra-capacitors for another project. When I took it apart I found a cracked soldering, such that positive clam was not connected to the board, only to electromagnetic switch. Poor design, poor soldering, non-existing QC. After I soldered back with a different longer connector it works flawlessly. I may add a small switch to trigger the electromagnet, so I could use this as a battery. By default it disconnects the positive cable until it senses a rush current from starter motor, then it kicks in to give a boost. Internally the capacitors are charged to 16.4V, not 14V as indicated by LEDs, but it doesn't matter, as the car electric never sees this voltage, it is pulled down by the starter motor. So the reserve power you have is going from 16.4V to about 11V, when this becomes ineffective and you need to recharge it again. Clever idea, could be implemented better.

Works as advertised, expensive but potentially a real life saver
My car's battery was losing charge as winter progressed to the point where it would barely start the car. With only street parking available it wasn't practical to run a mains charger to charge the battery. Then the last wave of cold and snow snuffed it out completely and the car wouldn't start. So my option was to buy a new battery and go through the hassle of installing it or try a jump starter. After doing some research the Schumacher seemed worth a try versus lithium battery based units.Anyway it comes via Amazon US and took just over a week to arrive, which wasn't too bad since I wasn't in a hurry. The instructions are reasonably clear, although for my 330i with the battery in the boot the best place to connect terminals was actually points in the engine bay.The battery had enough juice left to charge the Schumacher unit and then the car started after just a few minutes of operation. Very straight forward really. So is it worth it?It's expensive and you could buy a brand new replacement battery for far less (but you do need to install it).On the other hand the Schumacher unit works and it can potentially save you some real hassle when you are isolated and just need to get the car started.

Haven't used it yet
I haven't been able to test it but I did charge it. The product seems solid and the charging worked well. I almost hope I never need to use it but it looks like it will do the job

It Works
This is one of the things you hope you’ll never use. Used mine today and it started my truck.
