The only landline phone dialer for personal use
This is truly a product that you will love to hate. I'm on my third one, but there really isn't anything else that will do the job. The only other landline phone dollars are for telemarketers and cost thousands. I just bought my third one. They last about two and a half years and then just refuse to dial anymore. But even more annoying, they have to be programmed with the voice of the user. So you have to sit there with your 94-year-old mother and get her to say "Uncle Max" exactly the same way a couple of times. And then after some random period of time, it'll forget Uncle Max and you'll have to put him in again. But again, if you need something that voice dials a landline, this is the only product available. And when it works it's a lifesaver. My mom is blind and forgetful and she'd never be able to use any other kind of phone dialer. It is very small, it is pretty resistant to power outages, but it is what it is. And you will learn to both love and hate it!

It's an a amazing concept but she has a hard time recognizing dad's voice.
Dad is blind and old. His voice can be "gravelly" and sometimes he has to repeat the name of who he is trying to call multiple times and still doesn't connect. It would be if it recognized other voices so I would make the initial recording. But having said that. It's been a lifesaver for him. He has no cell phone or wi fi.

Voice Activated Phone Dialer Isn't Worth The Month
I got this unit so my Dad could continue using the phone as his eye sight has declined. Unfortunately the thing made 2 good calls then when Dad would trying calling someone it always called the same number over and over again. We put the thing away. A waste of money in our case.

really great product for a person who can't dial
First - have to say the product is not perfect. Bought it for my mother whose eyesight is frail. As it is programmed to only work with one person's voice - that person needs to clearly record a name for the calling numbers to be programmed. Additionally, names that begin with soft consonants (ex. F, H, L, P, R, S, V, W) sometimes are not distinctly understood by the dialer and it mixes up and dials one of the other names recorded. The way to compensate is to record an attached word to the name to help differentiate. Example - for Wayne: record WayneBoston or WayneCell so the dialer can record a differentiated name. If there are two names it does mix up then just re-record one of the names to help differentiate. All that said above, I highly endorse this product as it has allowed my mother with low vision to be able to call friends, businesses and medical contacts by herself. The few times the dialer does mix up the name you are instructing to dial - the overall majority of time it works just great and provides the person with low vision a greater sense of self-independence.I gave it 5 STARS as its value to a low vision person overwhelmingly outweighs any of its few dialer clarity issues.

WORST PURCHASE I EVER MADE FROM AMAZON
I would give this a ZERO starts if possible. It was the worst product I have ever purchased. The unit was set up for my 87 year old mother with macular so that she could call her children and friends. Her sight does not allow her to dial the phone. Once set up the unit worked OK for about month. She started to have problems with the unit not recognizing the name requested. We once agin set up the unit, stressing to her that she needed to say the name the same way each time. Not only did the unit fail but when requested the unit began to dial other names. At first we thought that maybe my mother would ask to call someone other then the intended person and did not want to owning up to calls at all hours. Not so. I purchased an Amazon ECHO 2nd generation and installed it in place of this Phone dialer. The best thing I every did. Truthfully I should have returned this unit after the first month, but I continued to try to use it.

very helpful but
I bought this for my brother who is mostly blind, elderly, disabled and in a nursing home. It has been most helpful for him rarely causing a problem. It's important to follow the instructions and use two names for each person, e.g., Jim Jones, to ensure it works properly. I must add however, that the product shipped to me was supposed to be new but, after several months of us, I inadvertently found out it had been used before and still contained names from the previous owner. When I called the distributor to suggest they should replace it or provide some significant compensation, the best they would do was send me a $10 wrist watch which announces the time (also a helpful product for my brother). I found this unsatisfactory given that the product cost $200. All in all, a good product but be sure it's really new.

good product
This is a very easy product to use. Sometimes, if you do not say the name with the same emphasis that you did when you recorded it, it will not work. However, it works 90% of the time I use it. For those people that want to dial the phone now and then, you can do that too. Just press 0. However, you also have to press 0 to hear the beep beep for a message waiting, because when you pick up the phone you will hear "Name to dial please!" I like the female voice, too.
