.com It's a special delivery for your PC! Living in a virtual house in your computer, these cute, mischievous Babyz need you to play with and take care of them! You'll have hours of fun interacting with Babyz as they learn to walk, talk, and develop their own unique personalities. Entertaining for children, Babyz is also great fun for grownups, too! Review Our testers still go back to those excellent simulations, Dogz and Catz. Fans of these programs will be happy to know that now there's Babyz, which Mindscape is calling the "next generation" of a virtual life form. Yes, this enjoyable program lets you take care of your very own virtual baby! After you choose a baby from the adoption center, you can talk to it through your computer's microphone- the babies respond to sounds, although they can't discriminate words. Note that this program uses IBM's ViaVoice technology, which must be installed and then "trained" on your computer in order to work. This also requires the use of a headset, which plugs into your computer's microphone jack. Some testers had trouble with this process and had to play without the microphone. Others had no set-up difficulties and everything worked fine.Your babies can be rocked, tickled, fed, bathed and loaded down with toys, and they don't respond well to neglect. As you play, your baby grows and eventually can talk and then toddle. Babyz can be downloaded from an on online adoption center and left at Grandma's house when you don't have time to watch them. Our testers were quickly hooked by all the features and power of this program.Teaches: caring for others, interpersonal development Age Range: 5-up Copyright © 2000 Children's Software Revue -- From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

Babyz are so much fun! This will play in Windows 8.1
Adopt a baby or three... feed, clothe, change, play with them, hold them up, tickle them, put them on the slide in the yard, play records and watch them dance in the living room, put them in the bathtub, care for them through illnesses, and just have fun watching them grow up. There is also a program called ViaVoice from IBM that you can talk to them and they are supposed to learn words from you, but I cannot get that old program to work properly under Windows 9.1. There is a bedroom with books to read aloud to them to teach numbers, colors and shapes, there is an attic where you can find seeds to carry down in the toybox and plant in the yard. This is a fun "caring" program for youngsters and the young at heart. This will play in Windows 8.1 under compatibility for Windows 98, but I can't get ViaVoice to install properly

My daughter loves it!
I purchased this game for my daughter and she absolutely loves it, just like she loves the Dogz and Catz games. She has the greatest fun putting her babies in the room and letting them play, taking care of them, feeding them, putting them down for a nap. She loves the realistic sounds they make and gets worried when they get ill and she can't make them better right away. My only gripe with the game is that the sounds don't work in XP; you have to turn them off or the game/computer will freeze. Fortunately, I found a patch online that fixes that problem - but I don't think it was a patch supplied by the game maker (in my opinion, they should have provided a fix for this ages ago) and it's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. But once you have the patch, the game seems to work fine.

Not for Windows XP or Later
The most important thing to know about this game is that any Operating System after Windows 98 is not natively compatible. My kids wanted to play it, but I don't have any old computers it will run on. Can't comment on the gameplay, because we can't play it. This should really be noted in the offering description.

Better for Kids
It's a cute game, fun at first but every limited. Better to leave it to little kids, they'd enjoy it for a longer amount of time.

It was the best thing to have on my computer
I remember buying this when my now 18 year old son was two. It was the best thing to have on my computer. Unfortunately this laptop that I have now cannot run it properly, but I am not going to give it up. I just need to purchase a better computer that will run all these older computer games. I lost my babies when I lent it to my daughter who did not bring it back, now, no one gets near this copy which is a very good copy and still in great condition.
