Updated review
I expected the antenna to be three feet long - it is only about 12". I had it unpacked and hung it on a nail on my wall within one minute. Before plugging the antenna into my computer I barely picked up the signal from 150' away (there were a lot of obstructions). After plugging in the antenna I got 5 bars and fast Internet. If you are hooked to the Internet you do not need to install any software. Just plug in the USB plug and I was up and running in seconds. The cable has two USB plugs. I got 4 bars with one USB was plugged in, and 5 bars with both plugged in.There is one problem though - after using for about a month, the USB cable connection started experiencing problems. I would lose connection to the antenna and have to wiggle the cables around.

they were about 2 rows over (700' maybe) and I got their connection in like it was broadcasting right next to me and about ...
this review is very late, but I've had this for a little over a year to use at a campground I go to on a lake where even cell phone coverage is hard. one of my neighbors had wireless (uverse) and let us use their connection for watching hulu (we weren't there that much to justify satellite) anyway, they were about 2 rows over (700' maybe) and I got their connection in like it was broadcasting right next to me and about 5 others but didn't know who they were, this does have a great range because the signal I was trying to hone in on had to go thru trees & about 3 other RV's, anyone who knows about signals is when it's going thru metal, it cuts the signal dramatically, but this antenna worked like a charm - I can only imagine its range when I get a clear shot range (maybe next year when I get a boat) - I had a problem about 3 mos owning it, when it starting feeling hot at the base, still worked, but it concerned me cause it wasn't normal - I contacted C Crane and they replaced it no problem, even paying the shipping! The company is great. I've also taken it to Myrtle Beach where there's plenty of "free wi-fi" around - had no problem - highly recommended!

C. Crane US3 Super USB Wifi Antenne 3 High
I suppose this is a great item but it ran my laptop battery down so far until it wouldn't recharge. Do not leave this item plugged up too long, like overnight or so. Just do what you need to do then unplug it unless it's running on a straight current like on a pc. It does pickup more wifi networks but unless you know their passkey or they have guest setup you may have to try another source.

C.Crane
C.Crane was very helpful in identifying my issues.. I needed an antenna to SEND from my router to the neighbor but this is used on his end and we could never get it to work

Works great in RV park
This Antenna works fine for us at this location. It picks up the signal a few hundred yards away where we couldn't receive it without.

Works great after 2 years with cable replacement
I've used this for 2 years now and I can't say enough good things about this little wifi antenna! I travel full time in an RV and often depend on picking up campground wifi signals. With this baby just hanging on the wall above my computer, I pick up usable signals from a mile or more away whereas my laptop without the antenna can't even see those signals. Earlier this summer, after perhaps 22 months of frequent use, I started having problems connecting with the antenna. I would plug it into my laptop and get the "device not recognized" error. I would jiggle the connections and sometimes get it to connect and sometimes not. So I tried plugging the antenna in to my laptop with another mini-usb cable. Presto... the antenna works great again! So if you are having problems connecting, try another mini-usb cable. You can buy a 6 foot mini-usb cable for $6 or less so I didn't downgrade the Crane for making me spend that much to keep it working after 2 years.

Helps with the wifi
It does help alot with the wifi strength. it almost doubles the signal. I just don't like having to put it outside my truck cab every time I use my computer.
