I am always a little sad at first when I first hear Karen Carpenter.... till I get caught up in the beauty of her voice. We lost her waaayyyy too soon. She was a gift. What an incredible voice!... was soothing and made me smile.... timeless... I can never get tired of her voice. Brings back memories listening to their songs. Great quality recording...a must for anyones collection.

The best album ever of the carpenters, this has all their hits

This CD is a great way for a casual fan to sample the Carpenters talent. All the songs are good except for "Sing". Sing's inclusion cost this review a star. Oh, and make sure your equipment can handle a modern recording.

BUY THIS! Thought I'd just say it right out front rather than towards the end. The original analog releases of the Carpenters were the best at that time. I've seen some SACD and many advertised as "remastered and re-released." I stumbled upon this and several other artist releases done in Japan using this K2 HD Master. The first copy I ordered was Air Supply's Greatest Hits. It was awful. Before I had received the Air Supply disc, I had already ordered this and a few others. After I received them, I debated on sending them back due to the higher cost. More frustrated at potentially getting burned again, I went ahead and opened The Carpenters Gold. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as the music started playing, and Karen'ts voice pierced the air. This is one sweet disc (refer back to the first two lines I started the review with). I lived in Japan for 6 years and tried to keep up with the ever increasing technology advances, when I left, SACD wasn't even talked about then. After listening to most formats out there now, I'd rate them in this order (1) DTS: when an insert comes with the disc telling you to be careful in playing it loud on your system as it could cause damage, that's tops in my book (where is an AC/DC release?) (2) SACD (3) K2 HD Master (4) Mobile Fidelity gold CD (4) remastered releases. To end up this review on the Carpenters, it's definitely worth the money getting it. Of the 6 I've purchased so far in the K2 HD Master series, only Air Supply has been the disappointment. Hearing the Carpenters like this really brings back the memories.

Added to my collection of CDs. A brand new CD and much less than those that were used. We played "We Only Just Begun" at our wedding reception. That was 48 years ago. Really miss early loss of Karen Carpenter and her blessed talent and voice.
