Ballistic Samsung Galaxy S 5 Tough Jacket Case - Retail Packaging - Black/White

I found the Ballistic cases while searching for a case for my S3. I watched many video reviews on YouTube about different protective cases. I almost bought a different one when I came across a video review between the Ballistic and very well known case starts with an O. They dropped them off the roof, threw them down the road, stuff like that. And the Ballistic out did the other case. So I bought one just like this one for my S3. I wasn't disappointed. I dropped my S3 so many times it wasn't funny. And never any damage. The Ballistic case was awesome. So when I got my S5 for Christmas I decided I would get another Ballistic case. Again, I am not disappointed. This case works great. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is this case needs a clip or holster to attach to your belt. Because the rubber corners make it a little bulky and a bit difficult to just slip it in a pocket, not to mention the phone is ridiculously large in the first place, you have to carry it everywhere. But to me, I care about my phone not getting damaged more than I care about how it looks. So I absolutely went with this case.Protection wise it is a 5 star case.Convenience wise it is a 4 star case.

Every case comes with its advantages and disadvantages. I believe that in reading reviews, you're looking for a reason NOT to purchase something, so I'll let you know the cons right away.This case is very grippy - which makes it easy to hang onto, and also great for keeping on the dash of your car, etc. However, it's terrible for pocket use. If you're someone who keeps your phone in your pocket, and constantly remove/replace the phone, you will struggle with this case to some degree. it grips the insides of your pockets, and it's VERY difficult to get back into your pocket if you're wearing pants that fit even remotely tight. Also, it tends to pull your pockets inside-out when you remove the phone. This is my absolute biggest gripe with this case, but ballistic cases are known for this.Lastly, this grip also causes it to be a magnet for all things clingy. Dust, pocket lint, etc really like to cling to this case. If you're a neat freak, this may bother you. I've gotten used to it.On to the great things about the case. The protection is unmatched. I've dropped my phone a few times with cheap, Spigen & UAG cases, only to result in broken screens. Not good. For a mere ~20$, this case will save you hundreds, guaranteed. I've yet to damage any of my phones with a Ballistic case on them. In fact, they generally just bounce when they hit anything flat - No matter the height or manner you dropped the phone. I have absolute 100% peace of mind when my phone is protected by this case. Nothing can compare to that.I'm also picky about the way the buttons feel & respond when my phone is in a case. Previous Otterbox cases have utterly disappointed me in this regard. They generally have very mushy, hard to press buttons while in an Otterbox. The Ballistic Tough Jacket is PERFECT in terms of control. Buttons are very easy to press, and you still get a nice, tactile feedback. I'd go as far to say it improves the button pressing and response feeling. Would not trade this for any other case on the market.On to the looks. Cosmetically, this case is not perfect, but it is far better than anything that even gets close to providing the protection that it does. Let's face it - Good, solid protection always comes with thickness. Sure, other phone cases may advertise some extreme drop scenarios with their thin, hard-backed cases, but I'd doubt that you'll ever achieve those same results if you try and repeat the test. They're probably dropped 6 foot onto blankets. '6 foot drop test certified!!'. Look for some Ballistic drop tests on YouTube. I've seen several users already drop their brand new S5's from 10 foot in the air, onto cement, with the Ballistic cases on them. You can see that it's all happening, because the phone is recording a video in real-time. The phone is unscathed. These things are built with quality & pride.Customer service is unmatched with Ballistic. If you have any issues with your case, they will generally take care of you. I've had a few that I've personally damaged (with no harm to the phone!) from drops, cuts, etc. and they have replaced cases for free, even though I declared it as my fault. Customer service is prompt and exceptional.10/10 for protection9/10 for cosmetics (compared to Otterbox & other cases that protect well)10/10 for build quality10/10 for customer support & satisfaction

UPDATE: 2017/07/11 (Prime Day, 2017):I came across this old review and what is old never got old. What I mean is, it has been 3 years since I bought these cases and my personal phone is still same S5 in the same Ballistic Jacket Case (this one, in fact!) I am telling no lie here. This is the best darned case EVER. I remain uncoordinated and still am dropping my phone all the time and my phone has NEVER flaked out. I keep the OS running smoothly and efficiently (which is why I have yet to replace it and let me tell you, I have loaded it up with apps and still keep adding apps!). I have had no reason to spend any money on a replacement phone and I know that if I ever have to upgrade the phone, I will be seeking out another Ballistic Jacket Case!I had another amazing drop like I did years ago and in the same way, but worse. As it was dropping, I chased after it with my hand again and instead of catching the phone, I slammed my hand on it which then slammed, not dropped, the phone onto concrete. It slammed so hard that the phone bounced around more times than I ever saw it bounce!! This just happened a few months ago. So the case is like 3 years old now and not a scratch on the phone from the falls it has taken. Literally, the case is still looking pretty darn good, too!UPDATE: 2015/02/20These cases are the cat's meow for sure. I can't tell you how many times I've bobbled my phone with the Ballistic Tough Jacket case on it only to have failed to catch it and then have to watch the phone bounce around on the floor or ground till it stops. Every time, not a single thing is wrong with my phone or the case. The funniest one, as I am a bit clumsy, was when the phone started to drop from between my ear and shoulder while I was on the phone. As it was falling down my arm, I started trying to catch it (i.e., I was bobbling it). Then somehow, in one of my attempts to catch it, the back of my hand slammed, in a downward motion, the top of the phone and it landed on the ground so hard it was like I spiked the phone (like spiking a football). I watched in horror as it slams into the ground and bounces all around till it came to a rest. This time because of the impact, I'm afraid to see what I did to it. I picked it up very gingerly and inspected everything. To my utter relief, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and the call I was on was still connected.This was is my 2nd purchase of 3 of these cases. Apparently, I like them a lot! ;-)Easy to put on and take off and the rubber bumpers, raised corners, and even rubber backing on the hard shell. I've already dropped the phone that this particular case is protecting and there's not a scratch on the phone or the Ballistic case and the phone continues to operate without a problem. It doesn't come with a screen protector, though. I bought the tempered glass screen protector from Luvvitt (sold here on Amazon) and this screen protect and the Ballistic Tough Jacket case are a great match. Highly recommend both.

Never got to use it, but if it comes with the same quality as the ballistic for the Nexus 5, I think this would be a solid case

I was very disappointed with the missing front cover and poor fitting outer case.
