Wow So easy!
We started locking the side door of our detached garage recently and I NEVER remember to grab the key to unlock it when I run outside to grab a tool. Found this on sale for a great price on fall Prime Day and picked it up. Removed the old deadbolt and installed it in less than 10 minutes. Super easy to program, instructions were so easy to follow. This is the first lock i've ever installed and they couldn't have made it any easier.Bronze matched all of our other Kwikset bronze doorknobs and locks which is nice, also

Works as it should on our front door.
So far it's been good. Matches the handles.

Fantastic, if you like being locked out !!
Bought this to replace a standard (key) deadbolt on garden shed, so that I didn't have to remember to take a key with me every time that I went outside to do yardwork, etc. Also, the previous owners of the house had the same key open all of the property's doors (including house, garage, and shed) so I also was a bit worried that I might inadvertently leave the key lying around outside, compromising the security of the house.I removed the standard deadbolt, and installed this one (Kwikset model 905). I followed the programming instructions, and set an 8-digit code. I chose a code that was easy for me to remember, but would be random for anyone else. Tested - worked. I spent much of the rest of the day outdoors, and I locked / unlocked the shed door several times. I was pretty happy about my choice of lock.Next morning, went out to the shed, which was locked. Entered the 8-digit code, and pushed the "lock/unlock" button. Nothing. No noise of the motor running. Gave the lock/unlock button another press - this time, I heard the motor, but the bolt didn't extract. Tried numerous times. Sometime, the first press of the lock/unlock button caused the motor to run (but no bolt movement). Other times, the first press of the lock/unlock button resulted in silence. Just in case the batteries were too low (unlikely - fresh batteries, and I could sometimes hear the motor running) I tried to open with a 9V battery contacting the external terminals. No better. Came inside and (too late) read the 1-star reviews, where several people report the same (or similar) experience; the lock failed soon after the (apparently successful) installation.Called Kwikset customer service. Explained the problem, and the lady said that, because I couldn't access the program button (which is on the lock on the interior side of the door), I'd have to call a locksmith to drill out the deadbolt (thus destroying the lock). That's fair enough, I suppose (you wouldn't want to be able to push the outside buttons to somehow trick, or reset, the lock - too insecure). I asked who would pay for a locksmith. She said I would. Asked to speak with a supervisor. After a few minutes, got a supervisor, who agreed that Kwikset would pay for the locksmith, as long as he charged a "flat rate - don't hire anyone who won't give you a firm quote over the phone". Called 3 locksmiths. None would give a firm quote over the phone, but the minimum was $165. Because I couldn't get a "flat rate" as required by Kwikset, I decided to do it myself, rather than risk being out by a sum of money 4 times the price of the darn lock (if Kwikset refused to pay because I hadn't got a "flat rate" quote). One broken drill bit, and two reciprocating saw blades, later - lock was off, door was open. I am replacing with a similar lock that has pushbutton - AND A KEY !!! That way, if the buttons fail, I can go into the house & grab the key....In addition, instead of giving me a refund, Kwikset just shipped me a replacement lock (which, for obvious reasons, I didn't use - I returned it to Amazon for a refund). So, 1 star for the lock, and 2 stars for Kwikset support (I'd have given support 3 stars if they'd sent a refund, and 5 stars if they also could have simply sent out a locksmith, at their expense, rather than having me try to find one who'd give the required "flat rate").

Excellent price / value if looking for digital access but on a budget
First of all this is NOT a smart lock. If does not connect with Alexa or Google and doesn't have an app either. That being said, it's PERFECT for use in both indoor / outdoor spaces (not weatherproof but if protected from elements it should do just fine).I bought this because I wanted to have access from the garage door without having to use my keys, same as my patio ... sometimes I would be locked out because my family didn't know I was outside working on something, so this fixes that problem!OK, so why 4 starts instead of 5? First of all, the manual lock is very tight, makes you think you're not supposed to turn the lock. It's also loud and the keys have to be pressed relatively slowly or it won't work. For the price these are minor things and can totally live with them. I already bought 2 units and probably will get one more soon.

Best Instructions Ever
The installation instructions are the best I've ever seen. The diagrams are large enough to clearly see the correct orientation of parts, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Granted, this isn't a complex part to install, but I was very pleased to see that they had clearly spent time making the instructions useful. This was a very simple installation, and programming was a breeze.Update after one month: I had to take one star off after a month because the keys have begun to stick a little and not work as well when pressed. I can still get them to work, but it's not as easy a push as it was when I installed this. Hopefully it won't get worse over time. As an outdoor rated lock, I would have expected this to still function as new after one month.

Meets my expectation !
I needed a lock for a side door on my garage. Something easy to lock when I go for a walk. Installation was fairly easy. Needed to re-read setting ups which way the bolt went section because you need to program if it moves left or right. Once it is installed easy to operate from the outside. However from the inside to lock the door you turn the handle but you are also turning the motor which takes more force than a non-electric lock. Assume the Mfg. will not read this but would be nice if there was a button on the inside of the door that you can press and the door would lock, not a defect just something to make locking from inside easier

Ok lock, not for outdoor use or high security
Easy to program and install but this is a grade3 lock, not for high security locations like your house or business, ok for a garage or shed. Assuming you have a hole saw and a power drill you can install in a standard door in under an hour. This thing is made of flimsy metal and plastic and good pry bar could tear it open. I use it on my garage which is detached from my house and its fine to use it there.
