Decent 7 string Guitar!
There are a lot of cheap 7's out there. I've tried several under 300 bucks and wasn't impressed. I've already returned 2 guitars due to tuning issues and just pisspoor workmanship like burrs on the frets, or a sticker for a serial number. The Dean did require a better setup and truss rod adjustment. I use GHS 64-11.It looks and feels pretty good! After comparing it with my other guitars, not real crazy about the pickups.

Looks Great, Sounds Even Better
CASE NOT INCLUDED! Bought it separately. I’m not sure why the reviews on this are not better. Maybe it’s because not enough people leave reviews after purchasing unless they have something negative to say. This was a Christmas gift to my boyfriend and it came in immaculate condition. Not a thing is wrong with it. He loves the Floyd Rose (not pictured because you have to remove it to fit in the case). Definitely the best price out there for a 7 string w/ a tremolo.

get one without the locking trem for half the price.
Was happy with the guitar at first. Was annoyed at how it came set up. The floyd rose was set at its highest point to make it playable. However this makes the action horrible as the strings were really high from the fret board. At first had to fix this by raising the nut which is really low. The frets need leveling. I could not get rid of fret buzzing so i checked and the frets are not level... i have built three guitars and own a Jackson which has a floyd rose trem. All of the issues can be fixed but for $399 i shouldn't have received it in such poor condition. The guitar fretboard was filthy and has a lot of dings in it. I am questioning how new the guitar is because the dirt on the fretboard showed that the guitar has been played. I possibly received a display which would explain the dinged up fretboard. If you must have a 7 string with locking tremelo i would suggest going to a music store and playing the guitar before you buy this one. The pick ups sound pretty good and the guitar is nice. I just wish the frets were leveled and the guitar was set up better before i received it. I am thinking about returning this guitar.

Not deserving the Batió logo.
The guitar came in with some disappointments. My guitar came with the 12th fret lifted so that fret #11 was all buzz. Fortunately, I was able to hammer down the bad fret. Time will tell if it will lift up again. The strings came rusted and so were the frets as if the guitar was Stored in a highly humid place or stored for a long time. I’m still testing the tremolo system and it does go out of tune; usually the G string up by a couple of cents. I have not tested the intonation but it does sound good. When plugged in the guitar sound good. I will be looking For more detailed Results. This guitar does not deserve the Batió logo as he is a high quality player and this guitar isn’t so.

Really Pleased
Solid guitar. Showed up fast, in pristine condition and in tune, shipping all the way from Cape Coral to Saskatoon. Plays well, will change strings and do a small setup but things are great right out of the box. Sounds good, will need to setup a specific tone bank because of the flat response pickups but overall I’m really satisfied.

Disappointed
I have been playing for over 20 years, so I know what I am doing and this guitar does not hold tune. Very disappointed, especially since it is a Dean product.

Great Guitar at this price
The first guitar ever that I was able to take out of the box and play. Granted it needs some minor setup work but It came already strung and I plugged it in right away. I am new to 7 strings so this was at the perfect price point to give it a try. The Floyd Rose special and locking trem setup really keep everything in tune, even after the string stalling dives...very impressive. The strings it came with are not heavy enough if you are tuning any lower than B for the 7th string. I have some others on the way at around 72 for the 7th just to be able to tune lower than B, even drop A has some wet noodle factor to it. Also, the trem bar seems higher than the one on my 6, which makes grabbing it in time an issue and once you do grab it, it is not a smooth transition when lowering tension on the strings. Its almost a string stalling bend everytime. My trem on my BC Rich Warlock, has some play in it where you can actually go down a step or whatever depending on the amount of force you apply. Maybe it just needs a few times around the block to smooth things out. Overall Super impressed with the guitar at this price point. Advance player with years of 7 string experience? Maybe not what you need... but for an entry level axe for someone wanting to transition from 6 to 7 strings, its great gear without killing the wallet.
