Better than Jeppesen
This book, the PHAK, and the Jeppesen text are all fine to do a memorize and go for tests, but if you really want to understand finer points of theory/why and applicable/what to do, this is the better text of the three. I enjoy the cheesy humor which can put some people off, but even if you removed that, this test is more cohesively and logically written--there is a person trying to teach you.Jeppesen: the mediocre TA going through the motionsMachado: the finer points teacher who may or may not be your cup of teaPHAK: Free and thorough

Excellent book and training.
I’m currently in Rod Machado’s class along with the book. I love it. Very easy to understand. The class is quite entertaining. If you don’t like the humor, maybe you’re not cut out for aviation. Lol.

Informative and Comforting
I have wanted to fly since the age of 10. But I never really looked into how until this year. This book was recommended on a blog for pilots.I've only made it through the first 2 chapters and i'm blown away. I really feel like i'm getting a well structured intro to single engine planes and how they work. Also people complained or criticized some of the authors humor. However I find it very comforting and helpful to get through some of the technical semantics.I felt it necessary to write this review early on for those that are looking into getting there private pilot cert. Good luck : )!

Hilarious Read: Lots of Fluff
I love that Rod made this book so fun. I believe you must be of sharp wit to get his humor. But this book is a giant stand-up teaching you how to fly. But I only gave it 4 stars because the humor is a double edge sword. When Im not in the mood for shinnanigans, and just wanna get to brass tax, I still have to read this book rather than skipping to the meat and potatoes to be sure I keep the context of his lecture properly. So if you have the excitement of Ben Stein, do not buy this book.

Perfect book for the beginner
Having only flown as a co-pilot a couple of times, I want to learn all I can before trying for my pilot’s license. This book is written in such a way that makes difficult learning more simplified. Thank you for making it available👍

Best textbook around
This is in my opinion the best textbook for private pilot. I just got a 93% on the PPL written. Rod goes into way more detail than say the Jeppesen books, which is great because even if you only retain some of it, you still have more than enough knowledge to be a safe pilot.
