The Charge of the Goddess - The Poetry of Doreen Valiente

I love Doreen Valiente's writing, she knows to make Magick beautiful.

Doreen Valiente, a unique human being, an initiated Witch, High Priestess when few existed, passed to the Summerland in 1999. This is a collection of her poems; or better said, a poetess' Book Of Shadows; for her wonderful poems invoke thoughtful memory of her, especially now that she has become an Ancestress of present day Witchcraft. Do I have any favorites? Top of the list: 'The Charge OF The Goddess,' finally published in her name. Blessed Be. 'How Green Was My Olive,' is a satire - this event actually happened; it is genuine Craft history. 'Widdershins,' is an example, like the others, of a Craft working. 'Pop Song,' is a thinking song. 'The Pagan,' is like a beautiful anthem. That's 5, enough to get you started. I like the whole book because it shows the thinking working mind of this woman.

Necessary reading for every witchy spiritual soul. Doreen channels so much nature-spirit substance in her poetry, I find I have to go back to her again and again, even to the ones that make me uncomfortable. Turns out, she is the source of every iteration of The Charge I have seen over the years. Her imagery gives me chills as I relish that "I have heard and I have seen" what she is writing about, and inspires me to seek it more.

I love this book it has the poem of the Goddess in it and it was a must have for me. It is a book you tend to pick up over and over again after you have read it the first time.

Slimmer than I expected for the price. It's nice to see the works of the woman that inspired Wicca's foundations. A few odd poems in it, but all poets write a weird one or two..or three..It's part of the process!

A must own for witches

this is a treasure from the late lady doreen that i belive everyone must havei was glad to see it avalible i thought it was as rare a gem as the lady herself

This is a great book of poetry. It's quite informative with the way she writes.I really like that proceeds go to the pegan foundation. Doreen made a large contribution with her work during her lifetime!

This is the most beautiful little book! If you want to leap into another world of the magical and mystical realm then this is the book for you. I actually bought as a gift for someone and she loved it.

Ein Buch voller wunderschöner und magischer Poesie. Heilige und bekannte Texte wie die Charge, Witches-Rune oder The Summerking, welche innerhalb der alten Religion häufig rezitiert werden sind hier zusammengestellt. Auch die schönen Worte der Erinnerung die in Verbidung mit der Mother of modern Witchcraft stand. Deshalb ein wunderschönes Buch für alle...So mote it be! Chant the spell and be it done )O(

É um livro imprescindivel para quem se interessa pela Wicca e a Doreen Valiente é um personagem de referencia histórica nessa linha filosófico-religiosa conseguiu traduzir em poesia toda filosofia Wiccana, foi ela quem organizou todo acervo de G. Gardner.
