So far this has been the best purchase I've made
So far this has been the best purchase I've made. I always see friends and coworkers with their sleek little power packs, so I bit the bullet. Out of all the choices with the best buyer ratings this particular Anker had my name all over it. Black and red, my two favorite colors. It seems silly there were more powerful chargers for roughly the same price or a little more. But I got the 2nd gen astro 4. So far I don't have any complaints. I've had it for 3 days and dropped it twice in one day. Hardly a scratch, nice! Now I can charge my phone and beats pill at the same time without cords running everywhere. I suck my battery nearly dry during the day at work. At 40% charge I plug it in to my Astro 4 and have 75% charge by the end of the day. Of course I'm on Facebook and have pandora running in the background. I also plug my pill in on low charge and it's fully charged before I even get of the clock. It comes with a 3ft micro usb and a wall charger. The only drawback is bringing another cord if you want to charge an accessory like a blu tooth speaker. Which is not a big deal. The charge level shows on the top side. The white LEDs tell you where your charge is. Once your phone is charged it turns off. No battery fry or running down the charge on the power pack.

Definitely make this purchase!
I was skeptical at first about purchasing a Powerbank but when I saw the price I figured I would give it a try. I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised with it's performance! I have an iPhone 6 Plus so my battery is significantly higher capacity than most other phones. I have been able to get 4-5 full charges out of this product without having to recharge it. I have also been able to charge my iPad air and iPhone simultabeously without worrying about a fast drain. I was always happy to see that I got a small Anker pouch with a drawstring to carry the device around with me. I have come to prefer to charge using this device rather than a wall outlet because I can walk around and use the phone while it's charging. I can also see that it would be an amazing travel companion. I am considering purchasing a second unit. I definitely highly recommended the Anker E4 if you need to charge on the go or if you just happen to sit somewhere after a long day and have no outlet nearby to charge your phone. The most annoying thing for me is when my phone is about to die before I'm done with my nightly texting and work on my phone. Buy this!

Doesn't hold a charge. Update: August 31 2015
The only reason I am giving this charger a one star is solely because of the fact that it does not auto-detect any device when plugged in. I have to click on the side button every single time and after maybe 30 seconds it detects the device. I have the older generation of this one and works amazing. I got the 2nd Gen one for a gift for my boyfriend and he is pleased with the charge of it, but says that when he isn't using it the battery loses power, which is weird since it is a backup battery. I feel as though this one might be a defected one.UPDATE AUGUST 31 2015SO, this charger wasn't holding a charge before, but my friend said the new one he received worked fine. I cannot believe how wonderful there customer service is. They emailed me a couple of times and when I finally emailed them back they quickly responded with assistance. After a couple of emails, they were happy enough to send me a new one and apologized for the defective product. I have so many friends who have told me that they are going to order one of these external batteries because of how well it works. I would recommend this product to anyone.

This charger is the real deal.
The Anker 2nd Gen Astro E4, despite the involved name, is the real deal. I've been using it to charge a now nearly two year old iPhone 5s with a fading battery. As an initial test, I used the Astro exclusively each time my iPhone dipped below 15%. The Astro successfully charged it back up to 100% four times before the Astro LEDs reduced to one, even while I was actively using the phone for GPS directions, Facebook, Netflix, and phone calling. Meaning, I could probably charge my iPhone at least one more time. Color me impressed.Since that initial test, I've continued to use the Astro off and on I consistently get well over four full charges before the LEDs drop to one, and then I decide to charge the Astro back up. With very light use of the phone, I could see the Astro getting over five charges. If the phone was left undisturbed to just charge, I could see the Astro achieving its claimed six charges.PROS:+ Works+ Consistent+ Two (2) USB ports for two (2) devices+ Nice discreet carrying bag+ PriceCONS:none

Bummed out.
Update 8 OCT 2015,Anker customer service has reached out in effort to assist me with this issue. Irrespective of this product I'm really pleased that they got in touch with me in such a timely manner. The unit I got was the problem, but Anker is doing a heck of a job keeping in touch and having a human behind their product. It seems to charge my phone (iPhone 5) if I'm using/messing with the phone at the time however when driving and using the phone as GPS orwhen charging it up overnight on the bedside table it does not seem to work. For example I woke up this morning with a dead phone and a battery pack that still had three lights.I bought my wife a different charge and her's does not seem to do this, I'm thinking it is the battery. My other impressions of this pack have been awesome. It came packaged well, it has good external build quality, and it just looks and feels good. I'm returning it today and kinda sad about that. At this point I'm not sure if I'm going to get another Astro E4 or try something else. My wife has a iClever Intocircuit and really digs it, maybe I'll go there. The hard thing about these packs is that it is so difficult to be sure you're getting a solid product. Verifying mAh for example can be one hell of a chore.. I think I have a good product here and just got a dud, however I work away from home so much that I'm pretty sure I'll go with the iClever.
