It is a great product, I have used QNAP before
It is a great product, I have used QNAP before, and lost all of my data as it was so ridged. But with Drobo, I know it manages the RAID connection well.It does seem to be a bit slower than I expected in terms of transfer speeds, it doesn't always get up to 100MB/s, but I am pure HDD's not SSD's, so I am pretty sure its because of me.Also, because this is the B810i, it only works based on iSCSI, and does not have any NAS functionality. Really in the perfect world, it would have both.Great product, would buy it again, and again.I will also say they have great support, and responds the next morning.

Not pleased..
Not pleased... unit died in middle of inital configuration... got a replacement from factory..2nd unit would never allowed saving of DNS settings or connect to xencenter.. Went with a different solution which ended up being cheaper and easier to deploy....

I bought this and its insanely easy to setup
I bought this and its insanely easy to setup, but the performance with two SSD in is still too slow for the price. I quickly return it and went with synology 1815+ instead and the performance of 10 virtual machines run much much quicker.I dont recommend this B810i

This is a great unit. I replaced by B800i with the B810i. This unit addresses some of the issues I had with the previous, mainly there was no management port. This adds the management port, and gives a way into the system without compromising the data paths. The ease of use of adding, and replacing drives with any sized drives is great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for low overhead and no management iSCSI appliance.

Nice feature but R/W speeds make it pointless
Performance is painfully slow using 7 spindles with WD 500GB 7200 drives and one 480GB SSD best I could get was 45 mbps painfully slow especially for the price of 1100 without drives. It’s cheeper to get a hardware RAID card and SSD’s of 2TB and will be doing read write of 500+ mbps. Drobo please bring back the B1200i as that had respectable performance this unit is too slow for the supposed SMB your targeting!!

Drobo B810i
I've had Drobos for years. I started with several 4 bay units, then an 8 bay DroboPro. This was followed with two B800i units. And, now a B810i. This is easily the best yet. I take lots of still photographs and video and accumulate several terabytes a year. These Drobos give me access, safety, and backup.
