Great design, but quality control lacking
There are those who will probably think I am insane writing a review about barbecue skewers, but these really are a semi-professional piece of kit and deserve a mention. The flat skewer part itself is approximately 4mm in width, and the stainless steel shaft is approximately 2mm thick. The end is quite pointed, not sharp enough to hurt you, although still capable of poking an eye out if you are not careful.You can tell by the weight these are not your cheap Poundland variety. One neat innovation is the spring-loaded slider that will push meat (or whatever) off the end of the skewer. There are locking grooves at the handle and a raised stop at the pointed end, so in theory, no matter how enthusiastically you slide the meat off, the slider will not become detached from the skewer itself. Unfortunately, a couple of skewers were manufactured slightly out of tolerance (they were made in China after all), and the slider became detached. This is easily enough re-attached though, but just be careful that you don't nip or cut your finger between the top and bottom of the slider. The inside is a bit sharp and not perfectly finished, but provided you are not too careless you shouldn't encounter any problems.The main reason I bought these is because I have a large quantity of Chicken Tikka to cook (14 guests worth). Sure, I could cook this amount in batches on a greased grill tray in my oven, but inevitably, bits always stick. This way I can balance 5 or 6 skewers at a time across a flat Pyrex baking dish, catch all the drippings, turn once after 10 minutes and then cook another batch. If I line the baking dish with foil, cleanup will be a breeze. I won't need to worry about uneven cooking, as the flatness of the skewer will prevent the chicken rotating to an uneven angle. The thickness of the shaft is another positive benefit, as heat will be conducted into the centre of the meat to assist rapid cooking.I don't know what grade of stainless steel is used in these skewers, all I can tell is that it seems to be a brushed finish, and no information was on the carton. For £14, these are good value for money, and although not German engineering quality, perfectly serviceable. I've taken a star off, purely down to the lack of quality control. A great design, all the manufacturer needs is a bit more attention to detail to make this a superb product.

Will rust if not dried. NOT STAINLESS STEEL
Good value, but note, they are made of steel, not stainless steel. If not dried shortly after washing, they will rust. We rinsed ours and placed them in the dishwasher - but didn't turn the dishwasher on as it wasn't full. The following day, when adding dishes to the dishwasher, we noticed that the skewers had many spots and areas of rust on them. A bit of rubbing with some aluminium foil restored them.

Average or below average
They are supposed to have attached a piece of metal to slide off your "kebab". It does not work. I should have stuck to the run-of-the-mill skewers.

Good features
These are a good length for making real proper kebabs. Flat blade means the food doesn't slip when turning, and the sliding handle lets you quickly push the hot food off the skewer when ready

Great quality & easy to use
Loved these! Personally haven’t experienced the negatives that some reviewers have posted. Good quality, easy to use & clean. Quite the talking point at a recent bbq! Recommend!

Just the right length.
The food stayed on the skewer when turned over. Easy to push the food off without burning yourself. Easy to clean & dishwasher safe.

Really useful
Given as a gift,my son is delighted with these. They fit inside a standard oven so can be used under the grill not just on a BBQ. The sliding system is clever and fun, making the skewers easy to reload. There are 10 in a pack plenty for everyone! Great success.
