If only it worked like it describes
I did what I thought was very through research to find the perfect gps smart watch for my 8 y/o autistic son. Conceptually this watch seemed to check off all the boxes however..Issues:1) the digital time only works with a 24-hour clock. The only way to view 12 hours is by analog.2) GPS location is too wide. Our #1 reason to get a watch with GPS is to be able to find our son. It doesn’t help us if the watch is right next to us but it’s showing on the gps map that the watch is over a mile away at the nearest major intersection. We’ve used the Life360 to track by iPad and that has been much more accurate.3) didn’t count any steps or track sleep4) the weather displays in Celsius, I couldn’t find any options to switch it to Fahrenheit.5) took 1 picture with the camera and it said the storage was full.6) I reached out to Ojoy for customer support to see how to fix these issues, I have yet to receive a response.I believe this is the first review I have ever written on a product and feel it’s important to share this feedback because it’s likely this watch is to help you protect your child but unfortunately it barely does anything it says it does. What I can confirm that works is the 2-way calling, but that’s all.

More than we hoped for., I will continue review updates.
So far so good, is working very well with calls texts and location super acurate. Note: when setting up account for the first time make sure you set country code to +1 for the states if applicable, I missed this step and so far I have been unable to change this, even after app deleted and reinstalled, quick start quid could be more informative. I will give 5 stars when I can fix country code.Update 1-18-19, GPS signal is spot on we live in the Pacific northwest, and Tmobile is our carrier, just received a software update fixed bugs, and 12 hour clock is now available. When in poor signal range, 3G phone calls texts are working. When on 3G in a home or a building GPS is slightly less accurate, I would say 3 block radius, outside its aways 4G and location is about 100ft. Radius.1-21-19, Upgraded to 5 stars, the fixed my country code, I sent an email took a few days to get resolved, and I am ok with this, new product, translations, different country. And battery life was 3 days stand by, no geo fencing and locational GPS search maybe 6 times in all. 3/21/19 will working great I have yet to figure out the wifi, but I have not really pursued this, I would suggest a screen protector even if generic cut to fit, as ours is rather scratched up, however it is on a very active 6 year old so.. latest update fix a few bugs. We are still happy with our purchase. A few weeks ago we started having a charging issue Sometimes it would not charge or we had to fiddle with charge cord, I decided to purchase a new cord, this made no change, I went to the website opened a support ticket recieve a response, did what they suggested clean phone charging points and seemed to help for a few days, then stopped charging altogether even when powered off and charging display shows charging status, responded to support ticket, and they are sending me a replacement, and box to return old watch, they respond typically within 24 hours, we have had this since January and it gets a beating. Up until recently everything was great. We were having charging issues. We tried software updates. They also sent us a new watch free of charge. It was ok for a while. And now back to the charging issues. If they could fix this one thing.. on a positive note my son cracked the screen and the did send us a replacement. Really want this to work.

Finally a good kid's smart watch!
Update: 2019/8/15I knocked a couple stars off for two reasons. 1 - the gps isn’t always reliable, even when it says it’s precise. 2 - the charger is very finicky lately. It’s magnetic, but even when it’s connected, it doesn’t charge all the time; you have to wiggle it just right.——-Original ReviewIt's amazing there aren't many self-contained (doesn't require a cell phone) smart watches geared towards kids. The few that are out are really bad (TikTalk 3).I've been looking for a watch that allows 1) calling/texting my child and 2) locating (not my biggest concern). This is an interim step before getting a phone in a couple years. This watch has it all! Calling, two-way texting (text or voice), can take selfies, step tracking, tasks, calendar, weather, etc. I haven't tested the battery life yet, but it seems like it will hold up for a couple days (without active tracking). The fit and finish is amazing (compared to the TikTalk 3 which is abysmal). The iOS app is very nice and functional. For what seems to be their first product, they really knocked it out of the park!Suggestions to the manufacturer:1) The watch is a little childish - make a gray/black version of the watch and also add a theme that is targeted to 6-10 year olds.2) Update the iOS app and remove references of "baby" and replace it with "child".3) I didn't see a way to set the temperature to F instead of C for weather? Reading the Q&A section, you indicated it exist, so I will look some more.Overall, I'm very impressed with the watch!

Good Battery Life , Water Proof (Really) , Restricted School Mode
I am a technology specialist and also father to 7 year old. I have the same anxiety as many parents about their kids getting lost or in trouble. I have been researching and testing various products since last 3 to 4 years with GPS tracking /SOS including commercial GPS /kids watch/ small restricted phones for kids.Let me tell you about my experience with various products:Most small GPS tracker and plenty of kid’s smart watch are mostly useless or become useless within a few weeks. You may ask why so? Well the biggest reason is battery life. Most product fall flat and barely hold charge for 3 to 5 hours per day, essentially making them useless in both emergency situation and need to track. OJoy A1 has good battery 800mAh and this ensures that watch is powered full day and half next day. Just compare it with adult smart watch of big brands at 300 to 500mAh max. So essentially OJoy watch beats most expensive smart watch in battery capacity! It’s fairly easy to configure (read my view on Geo fencing) to extract 2 days + battery life without need for charging.Ok lots of talk about battery. Other smart watch for kids fall flat on water proofing or lack of the same. Most claim to be IP57 or higher, but essentially they get ruined in weeks due to accidentally water splash/rain/ sink drop or under tap. Most claim to be splash proof but doesn’t actually work if splash is any more than few drops of rain. Having ruined many such watches from big suppliers in both Australia and US (Mostly re-branded Chinese brands). I think its money down the drain. However, OJoy A1 is the kids watch with IP68 rating, meaning it will survive the splash, sink, tap and other accidental water source that kids are attracted to 😁Secondly, Most product are useless with 2G or 3G network coverage , as it’s meant to track or call your kid in emergency situation. If product can’t find network in time of emergency it’s useless. I have tried several products mostly re-branded Chinese product (sold under funky brands) and they all are either 2g or 3g. OJoy A1 is supports all bands of 4G network and falls backs to 3G if 4G is not available. So reliability at time of need is want you want. This gets 5 star for connecting network. (Of course you choose best Network SIM card for your watch, if you are smart)Thirdly, kids Smart watches are cramped with in unnecessary features, which burns the battery life. Most Chinese made watch do not allow to disable these Or even if disabled, they still burn through battery life in background. OJoy has “school mode” that makes it a simple time device. This is a great feature as you can disable all additional features when kids is in school. I would recommend to do so when kids are out and about. Again remembering that the primary purpose and only reason as a parent you have bought this is to track or connect with your kid in emergency. Finally, most other kids smart watches use Chinese MTK chip processor and derivative of some old software (Scary). Both in combination are dangerous. As chip processors are not optimized for battery and they burn battery fast. Also they have slower speed and GPS accuracy. In addition of the use of custom operating system makes it open to hacking and are very buggy. OJoy A1 uses Android operating system as its base (although still on 7.1 and not yet on 9.0), with a light skin on top. Making the software safe and secure and with on the air updates from Android keeps it safe and secure. OJoy uses industry best QUALCOMM watch chip, ensuring optimized power utilization and high GPS accuracy for the watch. Most product also generates a lot of false alarms with Geo fencing. Basically I find the whole idea of Geo fencing useless. It’s unnecessary drain on battery life and with GPS accuracy varying indoors vs outside, it bound to get false alarms. Most people overlook that the sole purpose of this device is to track your kid in emergency or when kid is in need. So I would suggest not to use this Geo fencing ever and increase battery life. I guess this feature had made into most watches as tech was first developed for pets.😁Saying that this watch has fairly accurate GPS, considering it small size. So as long as you can know your kids location on demand in emergency within 100 meters, You are all right. (Of course it not down to 1 meter accuracy like Apple of Samsung watch- but it’s not really meant to be that accurate).Ojoy is a re-branded Kido watch (Hardware by LeEco LTV) popular in China and HK for English speaking countries. However, its built quality is much better than other brands out there, and its mobile app (iOS/Android) is simple yet functional (no fancy stuff).

Don’t buy
Terrible, product. Stopped working after a couple of months. Spent $37 sending it back to OJOY. They pretended they had not received it. Eventually i shamed them on Facebook and they sent another one. Two months and it has stopped working.
