Schutt Sports Baseball/Softball StrikeZone Home Plate Pitching Aid

I've been using the StrikeZone home plate for years. It's very durable and a great coaching aid. I not only use it with pitchers and catchers for pitching practice, I found it extremely valuable for hitting practice off of a tee. It helps the hitter to identify the contact point for the ball across the plate, inside to outside. Later, when we practice pitch identification, the batter will stand in the batter's box for live pitching and, at first color side up and then later, flip the color side down. The batter will start the swing to "connection" but not continue the swing into the strike zone. They must identify the pitch location when the ball crosses the plate using the StrikeZone colors to identify (e.g. Strike-In-Yellow, Ball-Low-Away-Green etc.). The catcher or coach confirms or corrects. With the color side up, this is easy for all to follow and the catcher to confirm. For the older girls, we also make them follow the spin and identify the type of pitch. This simple aid is a great way to help the hitters sharpen their skills as much as the pitchers.

We decided to purchase this for our batting cage for when our daughters to use for pitching practice. The bright colors provide them with a great visual target while pitching. We also like the fact that it doesn't slide around too much and holds its place well. Only had for a few weeks but we are very pleased with this purchase thus far.

I purchased these for my high school softball team and they have been great! The color coding is very good for new pitchers and it has been helpful for my batters as well. They are made of a flexible rubber but not cheaply made. We carry them in the catcher's bags so we will have a plate for pitchers to warm up at away games. I truly feel they are a plus for any pitcher to have!I would recommend not to use for regular hitting because the cleats will scuff the colors.

Schutt's Strike Zone Home Plate is a great product! It fits in any backpack or catcher's bag since it is flexible and light (but also durable). It can be used inside or outside. Usually thinner, lighter plates slip and slide on a gym floor, but this plate DOES NOT...it stays in place very well. I love the three colors, which teach about pitching in the strike zone!

This is a straight forward product for use with pitcher training. We use this to focus on precision location. Speed is important, but at some point being able to hit spots typically separates the good from the great.​Homerun: The quality of this plate is high. It is thicker than the cheap throw down bases and I expect it to last a reasonable time.​Strikeout: I'd rather see the red and green stripes switch places. That's all I've got on the negative.​Favorite use: Pitching everydays.

My daughter is a fastpitch softball pitcher and I had just put a pitching rubber and home plate in the back yard. One of the things I wanted her to work on was hitting her corners and saw this product on Amazon. Th product arrived in no time and did just as it was advertised. I like having the black and brown areas on the outside of the plate because as I am catching it allows me to better describe the location of her pitches. My only complaint about the product would be that if you leave it outside the colors do fade and peel in a relatively short time frame (month and a half).

I've read a lot of reviews about an issue with peeling paint, but that must have been an earlier version of this plate. I've had it for a couple of months now in both hot and cold conditions and there are no issues whatsoever. It's easy to see from the pitcher's mound (and while catching) and rolls for easy storage. Great product.***Edit: Three year’s later and I’m still using this. The paint never peeled, though the corners are starting to get a bit worn and torn from years of use in various conditions and environments. The bottom is white and some pitchers prefer that white plate to the colored side - simply flip it over and voila. Also discovered that it fits well in a ball bucket - lay it flat against the wall of the bucket and throw your balls in the middle. Still a great product.

The picture tells you all you need to know. It's a basic vinyl home plate. I bought it to help my pitchers and catchers train. But I use it also sometimes for regular practice and I'm curious to see how it holds up with baserunners (and their cleats) sometimes stepping on it.If you are going to get a home plate you might as well get one the will help your pitchers.

Plate is made of steardy rubber (similar to rubber “mats” bases). Lays flat on the ground, but rolls up nicely into my catcher’s bag.

We purchased the Strike Zone for ours daughters who are fastball pitchers. They love the look and the different strike zone stripes on the plate.

Now that my daughter has her fastball down, we can work on moving the ball around and the coloured stripes help with keeping the ball in the zone. Very handy for portability too.
