Great tension rod, works vertically too!
I bought this to replace the tension rod on a set of shower shelves I bought at Target. (They were advertised as fitting most tub and shower spaces between 5 and 9 feet tall, but it turns out there's a small window of size, somewhere between those extremes, that they won't fit. They won't fit our tub, since our ceiling is too high to use the tub-edge setting, but the distance between ceiling and tub edge is still too small to use the longer setting.) I didn't want to throw out the whole thing, and since I was going to spend another 20-something or 30-something dollars anyway to replace it, I decided to keep the shelves and just buy a new tension rod. This one had the right size range, and the reviews looked good, so I ordered it.When I tried this one out, holding it upright and twisting it to lengthen it, I was initially afraid that it wouldn't work vertically, since it kept telescoping back to its smallest size if I stopped twisting (the threads were so smooth that gravity was enough to screw it back in.) But it turned out I shouldn't have worried. As soon as something was pushing on the end, it locked in place. Once extended far enough and wedged between the tub edge and ceiling, it stays very solidly put.It was about an eighth of an inch smaller in diameter than the tension rod it was replacing, so the rubber rings that were supposed to support the shelves were a bit loose... I replaced them with thin strips of Gorilla Tape wrapped around it, and now the shelves fit just fine. (The ends of the tension rod are about 1.5" disk shapes, but they can be screwed off and back on again, allowing you to string the rod through any holes bigger than the diameter of the rod itself.)

attractive pewter shower curtain tension rod ~ 4.5 stars
Nice curtain rod. I just received my new curtain rod in the mail and installed it. It had to be installed on the wall above the shower stall tile, because my tile is the "bumpy" home-made Mexican tile and it would not stay in place on it. On the wall the tension is very good and seems sturdy. My previous rod lasted 20 years before the tension mechanism wore out, and I am hoping for the same from this one, and that is why I purchased an expensive brand. I ordered pewter because it was the best color available for my turquoise bathroom wall paint and it is VERY attractive. I will order brass rings for the curtain from amazon.com because all of my bath fixtures are in the brass and I want to tie in a match. I am glad that I ordered this rod.

Easy to Install
This one is easy to install and fits in the window. It holds a light sheer at my home; however, it did not hold up after a few years. I added a brace to hold up the rod because it would occasionally fall.

... new kitchen but had trouble finding a tension rod sturdy enough to stay in place within the frame of ...
We wanted half-curtains in our new kitchen but had trouble finding a tension rod sturdy enough to stay in place within the frame of a double window and not sag in the middle. Enter Source Global 52-90-inch Tension Rod. This is the perfect solution in our 78" space. The rod is so sturdy that we have not needed to use the included but optional center support. (This is GREAT, because the only way we could mount it is with something like Gorilla Glue, and we don't want to do that.) The rod did fall one time, but we discovered that we had not installed it with enough tension. Once we fixed that, the rod has remained in place, holding 8 panels of linen curtains beautifully. I wouldn't try this rod with heavy drapes unless the center support was in place, but for sheers or lightweight curtains, I think this works well.

Great product at a great price!
I bought this after my shower curtain rod broke (it was a 90 degree angle rod that wrapped around the tub) and I wanted something that would go straight across the entire tub space including the 2.5 feet of marble shelf at the end of the tub. So I was looking at about an 83 inch rod. I wasn't sure that this would be sturdy enough to hold the shower curtain and thought I might have to get a support piece for the middle, but it's been up a few weeks now with no problems. I think it probably helps that the ends of the rod are kind of resting on top of the tile tub surround, which may add some extra support, but the middle isn't sagging at all and on the whole, it looks great! I couldn't find anything this length in any of the local stores so I'm glad I found this here.

Thought it would be great...
I've had this up in my laundry area for over a month now. I needed something of this length, close to 90 inches. I use it often, every week, to hang clothes by hangers which need not go in the dryer. I keep heavy items to the edges, because the rod sags in the middle even with what I would consider light items. I live in an apartment, so I prefer not to make holes in the walls for sturdier installation. However good the tension may seem, inevitably, the rod has slipped further down, leaving an awful black circular marking on the white wall, which I will have to paint over later. It's the only rod of this length I could find, therefore I am happy with this purchase, however, had there been other options, I may have considered those.

Careful what you are hanging on this one.
This rod was purchased to span windows (62" span) to hold light Christmas ornaments. I found it difficult to deal with when expanding to the right length. The "feel" of expanding was not there and seemed to retract when I let go of one end or the other so it took some time and patience (I'm low on that). Once installed, it worked fine for the ornaments (light weight snowflakes). No sag in the middle, although hardware is included if you need it. Pewter is nice with other hardware in silver family (brushed nickel, etc.). I think it would hold light curtains (like usually used in a kitchen), but nothing remotely heavy - especially without the center support. It is good quality and may work for you in the right application.
