Not a bad device for the price
For whatever reason, I had troubles getting it to recognize my Google Fi soon card as even bring inserted. I knew that the SIM worked and tested in another mobile broadband device. Since I did get to detect an AT&T SIM card for a little bit, I'm assuming it's just finicky and may have to try a few times. YMMV. I found that I couldn't use this device for it's intended purpose because cell phone companies use a double NAT system. For the rest of it, it seemed to function ok. There's a screen to add an APN and optional creds. The router part was pretty easy to set up and configure, etc. Not a bad product for the price range. If I were to look again though, I'd consider going for the 4 antenna model, perhaps.

Archaic SIM slot
This is a cool router except for the SIM slot being circa 1995 and needing a giant SIM adapter. This is somehting that I feel should be included if a device requires antique parts in order to work. I'm glad it didn't also need a dry cell adaper or a hand crank because that would have meant trips to more than one shop to obtain. Would get 5 stars if they add this 30 cent piece to the box so that customers don't have to spend half their day searching antique shops for adapters to fit thier already activated SIM cards into the device. It's okay to use antique parts if they work, just include the 30 cent adapter please.WiFi analyzer shows a very strong signal and the setup menus are nicely laid out so that the broken English in some messages don't even matter. Wish I could give 4.5 stars becuase the SIM carrier is only an irritating inconvenience for something that probably works great otherwise. As far as I can tell without connecting to my carrier, this router appears awesome. I will recind that last statement an alter my review within a day if this tuns out untrue once I hunt down a SIM adapter to find out if the unit even works.

Download speed
I am using Cricket Wireless. The device works, but Cricket is limiting download speeds to 128 kBS. Upload speed is fine, 3 Mbs. Cricket said they do not support and can only get fast downloads if I pay $10 more per a month for a hot spot. If someone knows how to get around this, I would like to know. For me, it is OK, because I use it at a location where I am monitoring video cameras, and I mostly do upload for the video. Once in a while I would like to use it for email, and to browse the web, but it is painfully slow for that.

Great LTE Router for the Money (4.7 STARS)
Very good Value for the money! There aren't many choices at this price range that works this well. However, the software is bit rudimentary and could have been better especially in the firewall area ( -0.2 Star). The SIM is standard, but the router ships with SIM adapter which works fine. I was hesitant to buy it at first because of one reviews stated the it only takes a standard SIM and it does not support any SIM adapters. Needless to say, that is incorrect; the SIM adapter works perfectly. One key feature I was happy with is that I could use it in a bridge mode only and use my NetGear wireless router as the main access point. This reduces the processing load on the Router, keeps it stable, and eliminates double NATing. The overall speed is very good. I have anywhere between 8 - 12 devices, TVs, printers, phones, etc. running at various times, I have not yet seen any degradation in streaming, connections or overall performance.Very good Value!

Eureka!
Eureka! It works! I bought a T-Mobile data-only SIM card, with a 2GB data plan for $10/month (their cheapest plan) just to try this thing out. I first verified the SIM card worked in my T-Mobile phone, then plugged it into this wireless router and followed the fairly simple setup instructions. I had it working in less than 10 minutes, with no problems. I really can't believe it was that simple.I have great T-Mobile signal strength here, and the "4G" light on the modem is lit. I'm able to connect a number of different devices to the router's WiFi signal, including my phone, laptops, and Amazon Echo. The Echo is working great on the router. The reason I bought this router was to set it up for my elderly mom in her apartment, so she can have her own WiFi network with Internet access via the T-Mobile SIM card. She has several Amazon Echo devices and relies on them heavily, so I'm going to connect them all to this router. So far my own Echo is working well with it.Here's a little-known cost-saving tip: even though my T-Mobile 2GB, $10/mo data-only plan buys you just 2GB (obviously) of high-speed data, after that limit is reached, you still get unlimited data with no overage charges, but it's throttled down to 128kbps maximum. So if you can live with the lower data rate (which is more than adequate for music streaming, Amazon Echo devices, etc) you can get "unlimited" data for low-data-rate devices like Amazon Echo, etc. Some other carriers' data-only plans have a similar "soft" limit with no overage charges, so read your fine print carefully.

Would not connect to PC for router configuration setup.
Normally when you setup a router configuration you just connect it directly to the lan on a computer, open a browser, type in the router ip address, a login screen will appear, using included user I'd & password you login. Then setup the router configuration, passwords etc. Not this one my computer could not see the IP address. Tried 2 different computers and 2 different ethernet cables. No luck. Thankful Amazon gave a prompt refund. Sorry to say Amazon customer care wasn't any help either. All I can figure is the router was defective, but I wasn't going to chance that on an exchange & end up with the same problem.
