Super functional design | Say goodbye to bezels...
This review is for the LG 49” display:(...not sure why LG 38” display reviews are mixed in here)...The ultrawide view along with a beautiful, crisp, clear resolution (5120x1440), was the primary reason for my purchase. It arrived in solid packaging and set-up was quick and simple. Granted it's not a true 5k, but that's not the target market. If this display had the same resolution as the 34" LG 34WK95U-W (5120 x 2160), that would be a dream come true![I actually considered purchasing that (34") display last year, but it was not as wide as this one, so in the meantime (while I waited for the 49" display to launch) I went with the 38" LG38WK95C-W ultra-wide (3840x1600)].I am a web developer and I appreciate the extra real estate this display provides for multitasking. I'm connected with ONE USB-C (TB3) cable (which in itself is awesome!) via CalDigit TS3+, and a 2018 15" MacBook Pro (w 32 GB RAM / Radeon Pro 560x running the latest version of Mojave, 10.14.4 as of today). That said, I think the minor flickering issue I'm experiencing below is an (Apple) OSX related "scaling" issue, not LG (I'm also running the latest LG firmware).Minor concerns:-This display (LG 49WL95C-W) will periodically "blackout," and go dark (which only lasts for about a second, until I press a key or move my mouse). As others have stated, this happens several times throughout the day for no apparent reason.-My only other concern is that I still occasionally have to go through the configuration process (System Preferences / Displays / then hold down the "option" key when selecting "Scaled," and then choosing "5120x1440 (low resolution)" from the drop-down menu, for it to scale properly. It seems to scale (to its native resolution) correctly most of the time (but this really should not be an issue). If I disconnect and reconnect my MacBook Pro (via the one USB-C cable), it will usually display the native resolution and other times it won't. This same issue happens when I reboot and I'm connected to this display. After testing it, this still happens with other (high quality) USB-C cables, so I don't think it's the cable. My LG 38" ultra-wide never did this when connected to my MB Pro. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. I see several Mac owners are. If I'm missing something, please let me know how to resolve this.I also posted a review on the LG site. I'm also not having any "wobble" issues as I see others are experiencing. I'm using a Sequel Lift (6052) Lift Desk and it's very solid and sturdy. I would normally put this on a VESA compliant mount, but this beast is too big (~27 lbs w/o the stand). If you are considering a display that will allow you to create more content or view more information on one screen, I recommend this display.~Please forgive the novel length rant~I'm hoping this will help other Mac users to receive a quick Mojave update. I already submitted a request to Apple.Note: This thing is pretty huge when you actually see it in person (the photo's really don't do it justice).TL;DRI'm really glad I ordered it! This is a beautiful, crisp, ultra-wide display (if it was any wider my neck would crack)! (Hopefully, Apple will quickly produce an OSX update to address the minor (handshake) scaling issues, as they fortunately did when the LG 34WK95U-W was first launched).Update 4:30/19:The latest LG OnScreen Control software update seems to have taken care of the random blackouts.

Excellent wide screen monitor
I've been using this monitor with my MacBook Pro for going on 2 years now. It was expensive but its a stunning and versatile monitor. I have a few gripes- no software control of brightness or volume for example. Sometimes having to turn your head side to side to take in a whole screen of information is a bit tiring. I have to pay attention in online meetings not to broadcast a screen too big/long/tall for the viewers. Those are minor things though- its an excellent monitor. I've never used it for gaming so I can't comment on that. The review before mine stated that the display randomly shuts off & on with a MacBook Pro. I've never had this happen, and I've used it with 3 different MBPs for almost 2 years. If I use this as an extended desktop (which I usually do), in the display settings "Default for display" it does use a low resolution- that is very easy to read but doesn't take advantage of all the display has to offer. If you set it to Scaled, you can select the native resolution of 5120x1440. For me this ends up being a bit too hard to read, so I set it to 3840x1080 and this is just about right. I like that the USB-C output has enough power to run & charge my MBP- no need for my charger. I often use it as the main display with my MBP closed, using a wireless keyboard and trackpad. Very versatile and high quality.

A Mac User's Experience
As a Mac user, the LG 49" Curved Ultrawide has exceeded my expectations! I read a lot of reviews and watched several YouTube vides about user experience with the LG 49" monitor. I waited about 4 weeks before finally deciding to purchase it, knowing there would be potential limitations that Mac OS may encounter. My Specs:- Mac Mini (2018): Running Catalina 10.15.6 (as of this posting). Intel Core i7 3.2 Ghz; 64 GB of RAM- an eGPU running Radeon RX Vega 56 (8 GB). This is key for my successful Mac experience.- LG 49" Ultrawide (Primary Monitor) connected via DisplayPort from my eGPU.- LG 27" 5K Ultrafine Display (Secondary Monitor) via USB-C from my eGPU.First off, I'm getting full resolution for both the 49" Ultrawide (5120 x 1440) and my 27" 5K Ultrafine (5120 x 2880). There is no major slowdown with my tiny (but mighty) Mac Mini desktop setup. I use my 49" primarily for productivity and work from home related projects & apps. However, I do play some MMO gaming on the display. It is definitely not designed for hardcore gamers, but for people who are seeking a hybrid solution for both gaming and productivity. The text is sharp and video playback is crystal clear. I love being able to have 3 app windows side-by-side (and a 4th app window if I use my secondary monitor) all running at normal speeds. What I would change:- Audio. It's okay for a built in all-in-one solution. But I wasn't happy with the sound and ended up purchasing external desktop speakers. Plus, when connected via DisplayPort, I couldn't have full audio button control via the keyboard - which I'm spoiled on and is a must for me.What I love about this monitor:- Resolution & real estate. I LOVE not having a bezel in the middle for a dual-monitor setup. I have been missing out and am now spoiled with the improved productivity. Working from home has become stress-free in terms of using multiple applications side-by-side.- Not having a built-in webcam. The secondary monitor already came with a webcam, and at first I wished the 49" had one, BUT I love being able to customize to a 4K Logitech webcam to sit on top of this Ultrawide.- Single monitor arm to hold this behemoth! I love having a minimal desk surface and opted to use a Monitor Arm to hold this 49" monitor. I'm using the Humanscale M8.1 and was surprised that the single arm is holding this 28 lb monitor. Super happy about how it "floats" above my desktop.Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase and wish that I hadn't waited so long to decide. As a Mac user, be sure to have an eGPU to take full advantage of the screen resolution.Note: My first shipment arrived with dead pixels the size of a quarter. It's a pain trying to do the exchange via Amazon as they attempt to first connect you with LG to try and do the service rather than exchange. The second/replacement shipment arrived with no damage to the monitor.
