Capri Tools Professional 1/4 in. Letter and Number Stamp Set, 36-Piece

I like how crisp and solid these are. Reminds me of old ones you see in museums, not that sort of bubbled cheap steel in some sets I've seen. I practiced on some scrap wood first and the key is to use a small hammer and hit two or three times lightly. I tested carpenter's hammer, hard to control. A few taps with one of those hammers meant for hanging pictures was best. You need to hit it enough to make the impression but not enough to ram the whole thing into the material, which makes a circle around it. I'm using them to make simulated antique telephone parts as replacements for ones that are too far gone. They're just right for making terminal codes in the wood and then filling them with white shoe polish wax to look just like the originals. But I can think of lots of things I might try with these now. Also to share, I have no past experience with these yet I figured it out quickly on one piece of scrap wood.

Good set of punches the letters are easy to read once you punch but I wish it was easy just to see it on it

Small easy to store and use wouldn't use on hardened steel but works great on sheet aluminum and brass

No idea why I thought I could punch lettering in a straight row with these… almost impossible. Need a jig I guess. They are made well though.

I just got these letter and number stamp/punches today, on the first look they're very well made. That's just at first glance. For me they seem as I mentioned of high quality and perfect size and feel. Packaging is not gimmicky, the stamping on the side of the pieces is large and clear. I will put these to the test and provide actual pictures and or videos of how they perform and I will provide short term reviews as well as long term reviews. They seem for industrial use, no none sense, this is only at first look. Majority of time I will be using it on hardwoods as well as softwoods. Maybe I will use them on some brushed stainlessness steel well as some carbon steel, mild steel but that's it. Which I think they will perform just fine on any type of wood. If I recall correctly the manufacturer does mention that these can be used on wood, metals, steels, plastics etc. I will rate these 5 stars out of 5, this might change as I progress. Price wise, they're definitely not cheap, but I am hopping I got what I paid for.

I've used tons of different punches in the 15 years of being a Machinst. These are by far the best I've used. To be honest I didn't even know they were being made as well as these. The fit and finish on these makes them almost to nice to use. The blued tempered ends are the cherry on top. The Engraving or stamped letter to show the right side up is even beautifully done (sometimes theres nothing and other times the letters all crooked. The letters and numbers are precise and clean cut. The punch is machined to a clean taper leaving a bare minimum around the letters or numbers which makes it easy to see where the base of your letter is, which makes stamping neatly and straight much easier.Comes in a sturdy box as well.
