Best Heater for Large Living Areas on the Market! Heats a Much Larger Area than Other Heaters.
This is the absolute best heater on the market. I have tried the Oil Filled & Cyclonic Heaters and this is the absolute best home heating replacement supplement. Just make sure you have good wiring and buy several of these, one for each living area. You will be amazed at how far the heat travels. Plus the the 980 is not necessarily better but has a few more nice features than the 970.We have three of these each heating a room. This heater easily heats a normal size room in a short amount of time. The nice blast heat is felt if you sit close to it. The digital thermostat is great too. Make sure tou read the manual on how to operate it.Difference between HZ980 and HZ970.There is not a big difference if you plan to run them a lot. I found my two 970's at a significant discount, but when I bought this 980 it was about the same price as the 970's which had gone up in price. There is a 960, but it lacks the energy saver features, possibly also the Digital Thermostat. The 980 has three heat settings, Low Medium & High which the Computer uses to give you the best heat for your money in energy saver mode. The 970 only has Medium and High which the computer also toggles between on energy saver mode. The 980 has a touch screen, which is a bit nicer and easier to use, but basically has the same function as the 970 which uses physical buttons. The Main difference is on the 970 you have to hold the Up and Down temperature buttons to put it in Energy Saver Mode and adjust the temperature. The 980 seems to do this wit only one button press.

Toasty!
I ran this a while before I wrote this review. I haven't had any issues or failures. I use this in a 25 by 30 foot living room in a 1962 ranch house with zero insulation in the walls. Honestly, if Mike Holmes visited my home, he'd tear it down. But I can't, so I use space heaters. I previously use an oil filled radiator. My cat loves that- you'd think she would bake her brains, but it just didn't warm up the whole room. Even the cat prefers the Honeywell. I run it on level 1 even, and it seems to keep the whole floor warm. It's kind of obtrusive- like having an extra footstool in the room? But worth it to be warm. You see a glow from the ceramic plate, but nothing gets scared hot around it (that's what scares me about heaters with coils). I do unplug it when I'm not at home as the cord/plug get warm. Others have commented that the fan quit? It does take a bit to rev up, but once it's going, it is on. I really love this.

Heater does not last more than a few months if you are lucky.
Normally I do not write reviews of products, but this requires an exception. My family and I have been using this heater frequently to provide supplemental heat to our basement media room since February 2015. It was (at the time) a wonderful unit. It heated our 500 square foot room quite nicely. The energy efficient temperature setting allowed for a constant room temperature between 67 and 69 degrees and it never felt cold in that area. Many of the reviews I read said it did not heat well. Now I know why. We started having problems with the unit in November 2016 after a chilly sub-zero set of days. The thermostat would read an ambient air temperature below the set smart temperature and would not turn on. You could hear a series of clicking, and the unit indicated that it was operating in the 1500W setting, but no air was blowing out from the unit. I did my own set of "resets" to the unit, but it still did not allow the unit to run, so I contacted Honeywell (Kaz). The representative did not have a "diagnosis" for the problem, but because it was under warranty, the item would be replaced. Unfortunately, a return and replacement would take 4-6 weeks to process, so the solution to get a unit sooner was to pay $236 for a new one (originally paid $99 for it on Amazon) then ship the defective item back for a full refund. This process took 3 weeks, but I did get a refund. We started using the replacement heater the day after Thanksgiving. This particular unit ran constantly and appeared not to be able to keep the proper set smart temperature. So, I moved the unit to an area that did not have as much "air movement" affecting the ambient temperature around it. But, not more than a month after using the heater, the replacement item started exhibiting the EXACT same issues the first unit had. The ambient air temperature was reading 63 degrees, the smart temperature was set at 67 degrees, and the unit would NOT turn on. I power cycled the unit, and after about 10 minutes the unit would turn on and run at the 1500 W setting, but would shut off after about 5 minutes of running and only increasing the room temperature by, at most, 2 degrees. Originally I thought it was the thermostat in the first unit that failed, but having the same IDENTICAL issue happen to the second unit leads me to believe there is a maximum life usage "part" in the unit that needs to be explored. Not sure what that part is because I cannot take the unit apart and still have it replaced under warranty. But, there is a significant issue with this heater, and it is apparently not meant to be used as a long-term heating option. I have to say I am disappointed. Kaz customer service is useless, and I suggested that they get with their Engineering department to figure out what is going on. Coincidental that I have 2 of the exact same products both exhibit the same problems with a very expensive (retail) price tag? I was told this is a popular selling item, and there have not been other complaints regarding this issue. I find that hard to believe but they probably can't tell me anything more than that for liability purposes. So, I went out and bought a Dyson heater as its replacement. I am getting a 3rd replacement unit because I did pay for a working unit 2 years ago. And $99 was a good investment at the time, but I would never pay full price as Honeywell would like me too. (But, I did pay $349 for the Dyson heater through Costco because I need a reliable item during the cold winter months.) So, buyer-be-ware, the item works for a while, but you likely won't make it through more than a few months of constant usage before the heater quits on you...especially when you need it!

It’s a good heater
I liked the design and I view Honeywell as a high-quality brand (especially compared to the other options for space heaters). I ignored the reviews on Amazon and ordered it anyway. This unit works great for me. If you expect this thing to heat a massive open space, you shouldn’t be looking at sub-$200 heaters in the first place. It heats my office exactly as i would expect. My only minor complaint is sometimes it seems to report the ambient temp incorrectly. It’ll say 65 degrees at times, but i’m nearly sweating.Bottom line, it heats my room well and it hasn’t broke down on me. What more can a guy ask for?

Great Heater, but it broke flat out after 3 Months.
The thing definitely puts out great heat. It'll heat over 700 square feet here. No complaints about it, except it just went flat out dead about 3 months later. Electric heat is usually very stiffling or its hostile. This one is better. What's to say except buy an extended warranty on even a new one like it.

Heater works great
I love these heaters. I live in a small house and my front and back rooms do not have heat. These heaters work wonderful. So great that so far this year I have not had to turn them above 65. Even when the wind was blowing strongly. A little on the expensive end but worth the money.
