Good lot of Compression & Fixing Support
The sizes seem to fit the Western Sizes, but with compression, which you would only want if you are doing some exercise. I like compression when I go out because running for trains and buses is the main exercise I get these days. I don't know how they rate the compression but when I put on the Cold Men's Thermals I would estimate the compression being about 1 kilo-pascal (1/7 psi). I think they make the compression pretty high so as not too lose too much compression as they age. Yeah good I idea to get 1 size larger for moderate compression or 2 sizes larger for a relaxing fit.One problem is they are a few centimeters skinnier at the top, thus driving my genitalia downward, which was quite uncomfortable. I am glad I could fix this by stretching the top around a half meter wide disc for some time and now the support is a lot more comfortable.

Hot pants
When did we all start needing ‘kit’? The first time I announced I was ‘going for a run’, it was in plimsolls, football shorts and a T-shirt. I knew when to start when the second hand had passed twelve on my wrist watch. But now, forty years on, it seems I need specially engineered items to help me get five seconds off my already very unremarkable 10k time. And so now I apparently need a ‘base-layer’ when going for a run.And actually, I really do. The past was a chilly place. I’ve never liked running in track suit trousers or running leggings – the former are too baggy, the latter too tight around the knee. I find a base-layer keeps me and my not-so-finely tuned hamstrings warm. (For some reason cold calves just don’t register.)These are a great base-layer. They are tight enough to do the job, but not uncomfortably so. They keep you warm, but don’t make you too hot. I feared they would feel sweaty and clammy, but they don’t. I am a 32” waist, and small is the right size. And then there’s chaffing. I know this to be a common base-layer issue. Oddly I did have chaffing from these on the backs of my thighs the first time I did a long run (12 miles) – which happened to be the first time I wore them. But it hasn’t happened again since – and I have worn them to run longer distances. So perhaps they needed breaking in? Or perhaps I did.Because of their compressing characteristics you’ll only want to wear them without shorts over the top if you are particularly pleased with yourself – in which case it’s an instinct probably best curbed. With shorts they are comfortable, and make you look more sporty than you deserve. And certainly more so than plimsolls and footie shorts. It’s not so much going for a run as the march of progress.

Go up 2, yes 2 sizes!!
Excellent piece of kit in terms of quality of materials and how well it keeps you warm. But have to say the sizing is well off, I am 5ft 11'' and 11st8oz, 32'' waist, standard medium in everything I buy. However, I had read some reviews which mentioned this product was on the small side so I went for large, thinking there would be plenty of space - I was wrong! This was the same for the COLD men's top I bought too. Having said that, the product is that good that I am seriously considering buying them again in XL if I were able to get a good deal and repost a review with the 5 stars it deserves.

Spiffing!
Got these as the Autumnal days draw in. A thermal set rather than standard compression-only, they do a great job of keeping the legs warm (even the uncovered below-knee parts!). I wear Runderwear as base, then these (or whichever compression I'm wearing that day) over the top.The big "Sub" logo on the leg is reflective, so a nice additional visibility/safety feature if running in low-light/night conditions.Note, my waist measures as 29-inch, so in theory I would wear their XS size (I weigh in at 63kg), but find the Medium a good choice and still get quite a bit of leg compression with them, without risking crushing The Tenders!Sub's brand measuring always seem to be on the "super tight" side - I have a couple of their thermal long-sleeve compression tops too, one in "S" (officially the "correct" size for my chest) and a "M", which I bought later. Both still feel a bit too tight under the arms (this is the only place I really find the tops a problem) - but the S is actually a good fit around the chest, so go figure, maybe I've a broader back than average. But I'm super-happy with these shorts (and glad I went up to Medium).

Good quality so far and have kept out the cold
Good quality so far and have kept out the cold. They are quite thick so are definitely more suited to properly cold weather rather than just wet or autumn weather.

Excellent fit
I love sub sports cold gear.5’8, 32inch waist - large fits perfectly.Bought as I’ve been using the cold gear compression tops for ski base layers for a few years, so now have these and some longer ones for the really cold sub -20 days :)I find that I don’t need a mid layer on when wearing this cold gear. I run hot, but have never been cold or wet from sweat being trapped in them. These shorts are great for gym and running use, as undershorts too.

No quibble refund - product was good quality
I have only marked them down to 3 stars purely as they did not fit so we’re returned. Product looked fine and received a no hassle refund without a problem. Would use this seller again without hesitation.

Way too small
I ordered a large. I have a waist of 34" and it felt uncomfortably too small. Had to return them.
