Works pretty much as advertised - overall pleased with item
Overall, I think this item is a good buy. It is well made and good quality for the price - a good value. However, posts from others that say that the table cannot be set exactly level are accurate; the closest to level is about 5-10 degrees tipped away from the user. This could and really should be.corrected by the manufacturer. The only reason for it being made this way that I can think of is, if you put a good deal of weight on it - say 20 pounds or so, it may tip forward a bit toward the user, and then be level. See the 2 pictures with and without a 9 pound laptop.Having said that, I can also say that I have no problem using this tray for food and snacks at the couch. The tilt is NOT enough to make my plate slide away from me. I'm going to see if I can modify the mechanism a bit to provide a level surface - it's really not tilted that much. Also, the table surface is a bit slippery, as some other reviewers have noted. I'd like it better if it was a bit less so.Another point is that the edges are raised (a good thing), but the raised area is rounded - it would be better if the raised area was square so a laptop, for example, would be held better when the tilted down position is used. As it is, an item on the table may slide over the raised edge instead of being caught by it. See the pictures of the edge and the almost-slipping laptop on it.The cup holder is usable - though admittedly a bit flimsier than I'd like. One nice thing is that it can rotate so that the beverage stays level even if the table top is not set to its level position. My only somewhat serious compliant is that the Amazon description says it will hold 50 pounds, but the BOX says its weight limit is 30 pounds. This does not really matter to me for my intended usage (my dinner or laptop are no more than 15 pounds), but I hate inaccurate descriptions. There's no excuse for that!

You Don't Want Cupholder Version
The model I received has a 'slide out cup holder'. Unfortunately the cut in the plastic on the one side so the holder can go in and out makes that side weaker. I know this for two reasons- I have the original model with no holder and is still in perfect shape after years of use; a straight even table surface, and solid legs. The cup holder version I received however bent on one side after only ten minutes of use with just a single book on it. In addition the legs on this 'new' model are loose and shake- both back and forth...and swivel side to side, even with nothing at all sitting on it. Furthermore- the product info on the site says this model will hold fifty pounds. Yes 50. However when I put it together there is a huge red DANGER sticker on the edge of the 'cup holder' model that says 'Do not attempt to put more than 30 pound of weight on this device' (ever). So not only do the cuts on one side of the table make this version weaker and warp- not only do the legs wobble and shake- the manufacturer itself says this version holds 20 pounds less than the others. To recap- I've an older version of this exact product from the same company still working after years of daily use that can hold 50 pounds- this 'new version bent after ten minutes with one book on it. You should probably know this before purchase. In addition when I bought this 'new one in November of 2015 the product info said it holds 50 pounds- but on the table itself there is a warning to only use 30 pounds or less on it. The version I bought bent with about two pounds on it after ten minutes. Hope this helps.

Table that adjusts in many ways, folds up to store, snd is sturdy!
I have one of these that I really loved, and was happy to find it again on Amazon. When it arrived, I was surprised to see it was smaller than my original, but that's okay, there is still room for laptop and perrferals, and there is a slide out cup holder that adjusts so if you tilt the table, the cup can remain level!Sturdy enough to hold quite a few heavy books, height adjusts as well as the tilt of the table. It is lightweight and easy to assemble. I can eat in front of the tv again! I'm happy!(Sorry, the pics are sideways!)

For my needs, this is a 4 or even 5 star product. For your needs, maybe not.
This is not an end table. This is not a card table. It's not really a table at all; it's a tray on legs. If you buy it with that expectation then you won't have a problem with your purchase. Full disclosure - there are some issues with it that would make it a 3 star product or lower if it didn't meet my main need perfectly; no other table works for me - I like to eat sitting on the couch. With a regular table I would have to sit up straight on the edge of my seat in order to eat, and that hurts my back, or doesn't help if my back is already hurt from something else. This table is the only way I can sit back on the couch and have a plate right in front of me, so it's a product I would not hesitate to buy simply because there's nothing else out there that works as well for my needs. One issue I did have was that it doesn't appear to have been cleaned very well in the post-production pre-packaging stage. A quick spray with some cleaner and it was ready for use. The cup holder is going to be OK for a plastic cup or maybe a can, but I wouldn't recommend a glass. Be careful when you snap the bracket into the tray for the first time (you only have to do this once). If you're not careful it could break one of the plastic pieces you're snapping it into. I actually did this just being in a hurry but luckily I only broke two of the four so it still works just fine. On that note, I have a feeling one of those was already broken, as I only found one broken piece afterwards. Again - something that would probably be a deal breaker for a lot of people, but I'm not going to go through the hassle of returning something that still works just out of principle and have to go without it until I get a replacement. It's that important to me!In short, a lot of these bad reviews are just people not knowing what they're buying or expecting too much, and a lot of them are probably people who would have been better off buying a regular folding table. If you're like me though, this might be the only thing on the market right now that works for you.
