Square Jellyfish Spring Tripod Mount | Plastic Version | iPhone 11 and Android Compatible (Mount Only)

I mounted this on the hotshoe of my SLR (using a special hotshoe adapter I bought separately on Amazon - the Smallrig Pro 1/4" Tripod Mount Screw to Flash Hot Shoe Adapter) and photographed and videoed (with my iPhone) a soccer match, using a long lens on the SLR and a monopod.As long as I remembered I had a video camera sitting on top of the SLR, I was able to produce video of sufficient quality for the coach to review the game.Of course the microphone picked up the shutter of the SLR much louder than anything else.This worked as intended. Four stars instead of five because I have only used it a couple of times and can't vouch for its longevity and there is no mechanism to adjust the direction it is facing at the maximum tightness of the screw. Wouldn't matter with a tripod, for which it is intended, because the screw rotates freely, but needed to fiddle to get it aligned with my hotshot attachment.One of the photographs on the product page shows it as I used it, with a hotshot adapter that looks like the Smallrig device that I used - only, in the photograph, they have the iPhone mounted facing the wrong way round...

I purchased this Spring Tripod Mount with the  Square Jellyfish Micro Ball Head and Pocket Tripod  and the  Square Jellyfish Jelly Legs Micro Tripod (Tripod Only)  (for stability) to use as a bedside dock, video viewing stand and photo tripod for my Galaxy S4 with a Spigen Slim Armor Case. I really like the flexibility of a tripod, and I was very pleased with these devices when I received them. They seemed to be very well made and was very adjustable. I was able to use the stand with my phone in either orientation (even with the charging cable) and adjust the viewing angle very easily. I prefer the Jelly Legs feet to the the flat mount that comes with the pocket tripod because it seemed a little more stable with the large GS4. It didn't tip at all, even when snoozing the alarm while half asleep.I made the purchase in Mid Aug 2013 and used it all the time, taking the phone in and out of the spring mount several times/day. Although the spring was quite tight, it would have held a larger device than the S4/case. However, last night I noticed that one of the hinges on the mount had cracked and I knew it would just be a matter of time (a day or two, at most) until it completely broke off, making the stand unusable. I had previously purchased the  Joby JM2-01WW GripTight Micro Stand (Black) , which also broke in almost exactly the same way. After less than a month of use with the Square Jellyfish product, this was extremely disappointing. Due to the lack of durability, I gave it a 3-star rating.However, since the spring mount piece was relatively inexpensive and I already owned the tripod and jelly legs, I decided to order this  Square Jellyfish Smartphone Tripod Mount (Pocket Tripod not Included) , hoping it would work more reliably with the GS4.I hadn't contacted customer support but in response to my review here, Square Jellyfish contacted me today to let me know that they had discovered this flaw and had already upgraded the spring mount (but hadn't gotten a replacement sent to everyone affected yet). They informed me that this upgraded version has already been sent to me. If you experience something similar with your unit, I would encourage you to contact the folks at Square Jellyfish customer service (contact info on their website). They were very responsive and pleasant to work with.So, in the meantime, I've wrapped some adhesive tape around the broken spring mount and I think that will hold until I receive the 3-armed mount and replacement spring mounts that are on their way. I'm anxious to try them both.

The media could not be loaded.  If you're looking at this review, you're probably already convinced of the need to use a tripod if you want to capture high quality video on your mobile phone (it can be very useful for still images, too). I've been keeping my eye on several different mounts including the Joby GripTight and the Glif+. I tried the GripTight, but it was too small to accommodate my Galaxy S3. I ran across this Square Jellyfish mount and decided to take a chance - not a tough choice given the good reviews and cheaper price. It was a worthwhile investment.Pros:* Price - one of the cheapest mounts I've found.* Accommodates larger mobiles - fits my Galaxy S3 with case with lots of room to spare. I don't have a device to test with, but I'm fairly certain it will fit a Note 2 or Note 3 without any problems, which means it should fit just about any phone out there. The only possible issue might be with a really bulky case like an OtterBox due to the thickness of the case (though the width should not pose an issue).* Ease of use - simply pull the rubberized metal clamps apart and clamp them onto your phone.* Secure - it grips your device tightly; no concern whatsoever of it coming loose (see my video)* Size - small & lightweight; easy to keep in your pocket or gadget bagCons:* Build quality - there is a good amount of plastic used in this. To be fair, I haven't seen one that isn't made at least partially of plastic, and this mount seems like it will take a fair beating without getting damaged. Also, since the clamps are spring-loaded, I imagine there is a chance that they could wear out or even break over time. They don't feel like they will, and I've used mine quite a bit already, so again, this is really a minor concern.My only other little nit-pick is that when you clamp this to your phone, it doesn't always go in straight (see my video). However, this doesn't cause any real problems. All that really matters is that the mount holds the phone securely and attaches easily to your tripod or monopod, which this does.Due to the very minor grips, I'd knock a 1/2 star off of my rating. Overall, this tripod mount does the job well, and I highly recommend it.

Holds the phone securely, easily adjustable horizontally & vertically to make it level. Usable with a wide variety & size of phones. Small enough to hold in the palm of your hand, so it's easy to carry around when you need it.

I would have preferred the metal version, but I could only find that available in the USA.Holds my Note 4 securely which is as big as it will go, has 2 rubber strips so that you don't mark your phone. Fits perfectly on both my tripods as you would expect.

Ich habe mindestens ein Dutzend Handy-Stativhalterungen in meiner Bastelkiste. Diese ist die Beste. Das Telefon sitzt sicher in der Klemme und die Stativhalterung ist stabil. Ich hatte anfangs Bedenken wegen der Kunststoff-Konstruktion, aber mittlerweile hält das Teil seit mehr als einem Jahr und es funktioniert weiterhin tadellos.Ein großer Vorteil und für mich der Hauptgrund für den Kauf, ist die Drehmöglichkeit. Die Halterung lässt sich um 90 Grad drehen, so dass das Telefon sowohl im Hoch- als auch im Querformat auf einem Stativ oder an einem Selfie Stick befestigt werden kann.

Could use more development. Feels week in design, but it does its job. Size is a good factor, but I wish there was a little more metal. We'll see how long it last for.
