I only have one complaint and it is a big one
The Bad: When you play a game you need to be able to have several save files. You start a profile and then from beginning to end the game saves automatically. There was one part that I thought was so awesome I wanted to watch it again so I literally just turned the system off....it still saved. The game just has so many great boss fights that you should be able to save right before and go back to fight them anytime you want. The manual should have had more information on what some of the stats mean. You either have to look it up online or figure it out as you play. The great:Weapons, weapons, and weapons. You have so many options. You can carry different scythes as opposed to one primary weapon in the first Darksiders. You can also choose a secondary weapon raging from claws to hammers and clubs. You can change you armor to change your stats. Just pause if need to change armor for more magic defense (resistance.) Equipment changes stats (def, resistance, arcane (magic power), health and wrath regen options, increased chance of items after killing enemies, increased experience.)I like them bringing in a level system. I never really liked the concept of putting you're experience into leveling up your weapon. The skill tree is nice. You can pick and choose you abilities and if you get tired of it, you can go see Vulgrim to reset them and reassign your points as much as you want. The wrath system is much better. You don't have to work as hard to accumulate wrath and if you have trouble attacking you still have the option of using wrath potions (think of an ether from Final Fantasy series). The controls can be kind of annoying because when you're fighting you might accidentally use your potions because you're so used to using the D pad controls to switch secondary weapons. The fighting system is just as good as the first. I actually like it better because I like Death being able to jump and flip around rather than just dash like War. It plays a lot like Prince of Persia. (If you've played it you will occasionally die because you use a different button for wall running.)The awesome: New game+ I haven't played many newer games to see how much of a comeback it's made but it automatically made me think of the hours I would spend playing Chrono Trigger. If you don't know what that means it basically means you start a new game with the same stats and weapons that you just beat the game with. Then something I thought was pretty neat was that as you changed your equipment it changed on the actual character and each piece had things that made it unique. The storyline is pretty good. I think a lot of people complain about the story because even though the goal is the same you end up going about it in a different way. Some of the fights are kind of disappointing. The last boss was nowhere near as hard as he should have been. I beat him on the first round when there were others that I got killed by several times. If they remade it with a save system like the first Darksiders, this game would be near perfect. It breaks the heart to know that if you want to fight an epic boss fight again you have to play through to get to them again.

Loved it !
I have liked this game a lot! It's similar to Darksiders 1 in terms of the history, characters, dungeons and enemies. But, it differs a lot to Darksiders 1 in:* This game is a lot more RPG, there are other characters that give you missions, you collect gear like boots, gauntlets, and weapons, and you choose which to use to boost your abilities (magic, strength, health, wrath, etc).* It's far less linear than DarkSiders 1, with a lot of optional dungeons that you choose to do only if you want to complete a side-quest, there are also optional-bosses that give you rewards for beating them but are not essential to the game history.* The bosses are a lot harder (Apocalyptic mode), very much like Silitha in the first game* You can create your own weapons by getting something called a "Possessed Weapon" and feeding it with lower-level weapons, those "sacrifices" make the possessed weapon stronger. You can choose to certain degree which qualities of the sacrificed weapons are inherited by the possessed, thus tailoring the weapon to your needs. If you liked the first game I recommend playing this one, and if you like RPG that would be one more reason. In total you'll need some 30-40 hours to finish this game, and 50 to platinum (it's not a difficult platinum but it's time consuming). If you buy the Limited Edition it comes with the "Crucible Pass" which is needed for 2 of the trophies, if you don't have it you can buy it from PSN Store. The game features a DLC called "Argul's Tomb" that adds 2 more dungeons to the game, the dungeons are not difficult and the DLC can be beaten in 1 hour. This DLC is visually appealing and the final boss is ... great :) and hard even when you are at level 25.

As good as the first?
Objectively, yes. Subjectively, no. The game is simply fun to play. I laugh when I read about having to quest, or the story not being the quest, or such. I simply decide whether the game demands that I think, learn, and have to think even (or more so) when fighting. Are there questions raised, and must I supply some or most of the answers, beside what the game demands? I am thoroughly enjoying the game, bits of the story, and ideas brought about through play.Beside the game play itself, and though a Christian with a specific set of beliefs (and understanding that some things just aren't known or outlined), I have always been a mythology buff. And despite what many think, some of Christian thought is just that. Angles are a strong part of the mythology, since little is truly known. There is the book of Enoch, but that is not considered canon, or whatnot, save by two subphylum of Christiandom. So, this game plays into several aspects of interest for me, aside from (on top of in this case) the actual simple gameplay. What is the subjective reason I consider the first game better? Merely I am more of a "War" type of guy. Death is an end, metaphorically, in reality, whatever. War is an means to the end. One is final, one means there is still life (in whoever is waging war). So, that part won't matter to most gamers, who I would presume would favor being Death, as it seems more potent, anyway. Just... so you know.
