For Everyone—With or Without a Kid
Wonderful short essay accompanied by plenty of beautiful pictures. Absolutely inspiring. It sharpens our senses to feel and coexist with what’s around us, discovering new findings that are always there but that we usually miss. The narratives flow powerfully yet gently, like a gleaming river, with Carson’s artistic mastery. It stimulates your natural ability to reminisce, and also takes your brain to nature instantly in every direction—you can smell the woods or the ocean while you’re in your bedroom reading it. The book is written in a style that guides children, but I'd say it's actually for everyone. Reading it unhurriedly gives me an effect similar to meditating. It’s my bible.

I want to leave 10 stars!
What a bit of luck. instead of ordering a new edition I checked the box for a used copy and this book is filled with beautiful photographs and of course Rachael Carlson’s wise word. a beautiful edition that is likely out of print as it was published 25 years ago. thank you seller for passing this rare and beautiful book on for others to enjoy!

Wonderful Essay!
This little book should be in every parent's library! It's a short, easy read, with enough substance to make you want to get outside and explore. I really enjoyed reading it.However, although the pictures were absolutely stunning and high-quality, they sometimes didn't have anything to do with what was being said. For example, the author was talking about the stars but no pictures of the stars appeared in the next or previous pages. Or she was talking about the beach, but the next picture was in the woods. I would've liked a little more cohesiveness.Still, I will be recommending this book to everyone... not only parents. There are so many adults who could use a little bit of wonder in their lives.

The sense of Wonder Lear/Carson
I loved how discriptive this dear Lady explains how nature looks like and how magical nature can be, you don't have to go far. Its in the little things that make magic happen.

Little book with a huge lesson! Read this, then go outside and rediscover the world if nature.
I think I read this book in under 15 minutes. The photos are fantastic and reminded me of how beautiful it is on the coast of Maine. This is a great read for parents of young children who want to instill the greatest gift of all in their children. Literally a "sense of wonder". It's so easy in every day life to lose connection with nature, with the cosmos. This book is brief (due to the author's untimely death) but gets the point across. I am so lucky to have had a mother who did the exact same thing for me. I don't ever her "teaching" me what the names of things were, but later in life discovered that I knew more than most people and knew it was because my mother instilled a sense of wonder "and" curiosity.

Thought provoking and inspiring book
This short and insightful writing by Rachel Carson.is a pioneering work on the value human connection with nature. It has been a guiding light in my horticultural therapy work for decades. The sense of wonder she speaks of can make a dynamic difference in not only every child but for individuals with developmental, physical, mental and emotional challenges, including those with of us with depression or dementia, including Alzheimer's. She describes a walk in nature as a journey of discover. This sparks the imagination and creativity. Strongly recommend this book to anyone seeking an escape from stress, or simply seeking a place to share discoveries with another human being. Any hospital healing garden, botanical garden or backyard can become a place to experience the sense of wonder she so vividly describes.
