Practical Guide to Computer Forensics Investigations, A

I found this guide helpful and not esoteric. It definitely gave me the basics I needed for my degree. I only wish a more recent edition was available. I think this went with one of the better classes in my program. I am seeing if I can implement this at work since forensics is a popular subject. The only problem with the book is that it didn't have newer systems. The examples and case studies provided were very helpful and the book has useful projects that activate the learning of the text. This is great for class.

Computer Forensics Investigations covers many different specialty areas including legal, documentation and technical procedures which need to be accurately followed in order to achieve a successful investigation. This book is an excellent source which covers many if not all of these key areas. It should be part of every Computer Forensic student's book collection as well as in Computer Forensic Labs. The non-working link only reflects one "Let's Get Practical" exercise which DOES NOT make the book useless. This seems to be a publisher oversight which I'm sure will get corrected soon. Don't let this stop you from getting this book. Even if that link never work at all, the book is still a must have in my opinion.

I purchased this book as an undergraduate studying Computer Forensics, and used it for two years taking classes with Professor Hayes. It is an extremely useful read, and provided me with a solid foundation on digital forensics as a whole. Professor Hayes supplements the text with case studies and great practitioner tips for those looking to enter into the field. I'm sure that I will always refer back to this book!

This book is written with extreme eloquence. I find that with many technical books, I find myself having to keep going back and rereading things. However, with this book everything was extremely clear and easy to read and learn. Dr. Hayes goes into great detail and all the information in this book is up to date and current. I highly recommend this book to anybody with an interest in digital forensics.

Excellent book for cyber-forensics

The book is fine, delivery quick and easy, this is off topic and has nothing to do with the seller, but I have to ask what type of binding are publishers using for books, every single book which looks to be perfect binding has fallen apart, sometimes within a day. In warmer temperatures, surely something better like 'pur binding' is more suitable, no wonder people buy digital.

Simple and easy enough for beginners/mid level forensics, a great complement for others on the subject.
