like Honda and Toyota
After the second squirrel attack on my car wires, in the past 3 weeks, I ordered this and had my dealership wrap my wires as they fixed them. A week and a half later, on Christmas day, the squirrel struck again and ate right though the tape. I do not know what else to do. Car bands, like Honda and Toyota, need to stop making their wire coating out of soy-based materials. We are going on almost $3000 in the past 5 weeks. I can't sustain this maintenance on a 2017 Prius.

Recommend Anyone With a Newer Model Car Buy This
Bought this for our new Scion that kept getting the wiring chewed through by rats/mice. After doing some research I discovered that the casing for the wiring in all newer model Toyotas and Scions is made with soy and smells a little like vanilla when warmed - a perfect rodent attractant. I also coupled it with some hot pepper spray on and around the plastic covered areas under the hood to cover the vanilla odor. Prior to the tape/spray the wiring in the car was chewed through almost completely in a single night twice in a 3 month span, both times requiring a tow and extensive repair. The last time we had to have the wiring replaced I had the service technician wrap all the exposed wiring with this tape as he did it. Since that time (almost a year ago now) we have not had an incident, so I'd say this is absolutely worth the purchase. I am also very careful to respray under the hood with the pepper spray every couple of months though because I expect that over time the heat of the engine will likely dry out the oil in this tape. One thing I would caution is that this is a much smaller roll of tape than you would expect. It's more like a standard roll of electrical tape than duct tape - if you plan to wrap all your wiring, buy 2.

Back to drawing board
Just replaced battery cable that had been wrapped in this. Mice ate right through tape. Also, discovered that they had eaten through a fuel injector harness wire that had been totally wrapped in this tape. At this point I cant see that this product does any good at all. Also, for the record I sprayed the inside of the engine compartment with some of the Rodent Defense Vehicle Wire Protection for Cars, RV's Tractors, Boats & more which can be found on Amazon. No effect. Some success using glue traps under hood.

SO FAR SO GOOD! I received this tape within a week of placing my order and immediately wrapped my Audi wires... ( I have had bad luck with squirrels and mice eating my wiring, not realizing I had a coolant tank leak which attracted the mice to the wires... it should be noted that where I live and park my car is in Iowa Country and the mice regularly crawl into engine housings here... so, I have to find a way to keep the mice from ruining yet another vehicle)... The Mice war continues, however this tape is working thus far!.... though I have mice regular inside my engine compartment, I am not seeing that they are chewing the wire harness... previous to using this tape I have had two extreme experiences with mice and squirrels eating the wires clean through...and i cannot take the risk of allowing mice to do this again!... So, my strategy is a 3 prong approach. Once the wiring harness was repaired again, I wrapped all the wires in this location 3x with this tape... I also scary in the interior of the engine compartment, the herbal sprays available on Amazon... I notice that mice still crawl in, so I supply them with TOMcat bait poison... they can eat that... so far, I have not been able to keep the mice out...but I do not see one chew mark and I credit the spray and this tape... The roll is more than enough and i used only half of it thus far... I am amazed that local mechanics had no knowledge of this deterrent, but now that I have discovered it, ai am thinking of being a local reseller.

Look elsewhere for magic
Waste of money. Wrapped all ignition wiring with this stuff snd within a week 3 of 4 wires were nearly gone. That's right: not just nibbled but wholly eaten..

THIS STUFF REALLY WORKS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Was skeptical at first but this stuff really works! Had a serious rat problem rats the size of cats were getting into my engine chewing up the wires that connect to my cylinders of my vehicle...so I bought this had my mechanic tape it into the wires and this did the trick no more ratatouille and master splinters here! Thank you so much happy holidays guys!

Installed this on my Ford Superduty because the squirrels chewed through my battery cable TWICE. Put this on, haven't had any issues since.

A Novel AMERICAN Idea that was rebranded...
Honda seems to be the only Auto OEM that has this product in their parts inventory. After further research, I discovered the JAPANESE rebranded an AMERICAN product that is also sold over the Internet. If I had known that, I would not have purchased ASIAN, but bought AMERICAN right away. While the concept seems sound, I have yet to see that it was a deterrent to further wiring-harness damage by gnawing rodents.
