The most accurate pedometer I've found
I have been using one of these for a few months now to count my daily steps, both for deliberate exercise and for keeping track of my activity level in just walking around the house, etc. I wear it clipped to my belt or top of pants and have found it to be very accurate in counting the steps. It's very simple to use and reliable. I tried a more expensive Omron pedometer that didn't work as well and went back to this one. I liked it so well that I ordered an additional one for my wife.A couple of minor things to be aware of: there is a slight clicking sound when it counts a step. This doesn't bother me at all, but in very quiet situations it might be noticeable. Also, if you use it for very vigorous exercise where it might be brushed frequently or knocked about, you might want to use a bit of tape to seal the cover latch for the time being so it doesn't accidentally come open and stop counting - but that shouldn't be necessary most of the time. Great pedometer!

Works great most of the time
The Accusplit AE120XL works great most of the time. I have been using it about 3 weeks and most days it records the number of steps pretty accurately. There have been a few days where it has only recorded a couple of hundred steps and I have not figured out why since I have always worn it in the same location. I am trying to make a habit of checking the reading throughout the day to make sure that it is recording steps properly. Very easy to use. The display is easy to read. The security leash is a nice feature. The cover is very easy to open if the device is attached to your pants/clothing. Otherwise, the cover is very difficult to open. Overall, this is a good product and I would recommend it over most of the other pedometers on the market today.

Is not accurate at all. This is
This is supposed to be one of the most accurate step counters for the money, unfortunately I was unable to get an accurate step count even once. I tried it on numerous places on my body with mixed results. Most of the time it didn't count any of my steps, the rest of the time it counted 2 or 3 times the number of steps I took.I don't know if mine was just not functioning properly or if you have to be extremely specific about where you place it but I couldn't get it to work right. It isn't like I didn't read the instructions either.

Simplicity Works!
I do a lot of walking as part of my daily exercise and I wanted to view my progress. This is a simple pedometer. It can be used right out of the box. It does not require programming of any kind on the part of the user. It will clip on the waistband of your pants and there is an alligator clip attached to it to clip on the edge of a pocket in case it comes loose from a pant waist band so it will not get lost. All it does is measure the number of steps you take and you can set personal goals as you go along. It can be reset with a push of the button underneath the display. I recommend it for adults and children. It works and it is simple.

Accurate and very simple to use
This is my first pedometer. But after having tried a Timex GPS Time and Distance watch, this is much simpler to use. You just push the reset button to zero and then wear it.First I discovered the exact placement on your pant waist area, affects the count. I was able to place it for above my hip bone for the most accurate count. Then I tested it several times. For every 100 steps, it is has not been more than 5 steps off, and it was many times only 0-2 steps off..... usually off on the low side. I also found it is not accurate on steps. The motion of going up and down stairs does not seem to register on the pedometer. It counts about 50-75% of the stair steps.

not accurate
It's easy to use - and that's a big plus, but it's not accurate. I tested it quite a few times and it is off by 10-20%, walking on level ground --- it reads too high. I suppose that doesn't matter that much since it's easier to subtract 10% and get a rough idea of how much one has walked and how much to increase.I tried the Omrom, but the battery consumption was outrageous -- and then it stopped working. This is an adequate and simple alternative, assuming the battery does last.

Sad about an 'old friend'
I'm very disappointed in the Accusplit AE120XL. I've used these pedometers for over 11 years and have been very happy with them. I've also recommended them to many of my friends. However, this is the first pedometer that did not track my steps correctly. Yes, I do know how to wear them - where to place them, etc. But this is the first one that has disappointed me. Too bad I can't return it. I tried to give it a fair trial & now it's too late to return. Too bad...

Simple and cheap.
It does what it's supposed to do: count steps. I was just looking for a simple cheap way to give me an idea of how much I walk each day. A few years ago I started walking back and forth to work, as well as running errands around town. This pedometer did that.I don't know how accurate it is, but it measured pretty close to what I thought. The biggest surprise was how comfortable and unobtrusive it is. I forget I have it on until I go home and take my belt off. I do have a bit of a belly and I thought I would feel the device on the top of my belt, but no, I didn't.Simple and cheap, and it works too!

Solicited review
This item is a no frills pedometer. That's what I wanted and that's what I ordered. Delivery was 2 or 3 days longer than estimated, but that was probably due to the Christmas mail volumes. This device is accurate but noisier than my previous Accusplit Eagle 120XL which died of old age about a year ago. I tried 3 other pedometers but none were satisfactory due to a lack of a cover over the reset button (they won't count over 1200 - 1800 steps before they reset, probably when I'm tying or untying my shoes). None of the sport shops in this area stock this item so paying twice its retail value was a reasonable sacrifice. (and still less than 1/2 the price of a fit-bit which has several unfavourable reviews)

Plastic cover clip broke after a few weeks.
The pedometer seemed quite accurate; however, the clip that holds the cover on has snapped off, rendering the pedometer no longer useable.
