Q: I want to use this for a door entry alert (not a door bell) for a retail store. Does it come with the three pieces shown and does it work like that?

Yes, all 3 pieces are included. It should work well for your application. Mount the transmitter on the door frame and the magnet on the door. Install the receiver in a convenient place near a power outlet and where you can hear the alert. I have purchased more than a dozen of these kits. They are well made and reliable and have an incredible range. I've tested them outdoors as a driveway alert and found that they really work at well over 1800ft. Battery in the transmitter lasts over a year, too.

Q: Can I add a siren or loud speaker to this to make it louder?

Yes, absolutely. The DCR-2500 has a 12VDC 400mA output built in.

Q: Could anybody tell me how I would attach this transmitter to a mailbox to use as a mail alert. Thanks

Put the larger part on the body of the box next to the door/lid. Attach the small part to the lid as if it were a door vs. door jamb as per the instructions. It should work great as long as the parts are firmly attached. Good luck.

Can't imagine why it won't work on a gate if installation instructions are followed. yes the volume can be turned off.
