So far, so cool!
I was a little reluctant to purchase this based on a Consumer Reports test basically saying that with heavy humidity and temperatures well above 90 (which is EXACTLY what I'm dealing with) that it would not be able to cool a 400 SQ. foot room (as advertised). However, I couldn't understand why so many reviewers gave it such high praise so I went ahead and took the plunge. Set up was a breeze, took maybe 30 minutes to unbox it and put it together and mount the exhaust. When I turned it on the air was ICE cold, the air coming out the vent temped at 36 degrees Fahrenheit. It cooled our bedroom down (about 250 SQ. feet with the door closed) from 82 to 75 (with an outdoor temp of 94) in about 25 minutes, not bad. With a larger more open room? Yeah, it would probably take a while but my guess is it would eventually cool a 400 SQ. foot room depending on the environment. The directions say you only need to drain the condensation tank 'seasonally' and the first thing I thought was "Ha ha, yeah, right!!" so after about 8 hours of continuous use I opened the drain and maybe 3 drops of water came out. Hmmmm, maybe they're right. I'm not sure if this is a Costco exclusive product or not but I didn't see this exact model for sale anywhere else, not that it matters but just thought I'd mention it. I'll start at 5 stars for a rating on this and go down from there if issues arise later down the road. So far I'm pretty impressed, we'll see later how it holds up.

Not affective.
The only reason I gave it two starts and not 0 is because it somewhat “functions”. It doesn’t necessarily work. It functions. I live in a small NYC closet like studio. I bought this brand new from a neighbor. It is garbage. I’d say my apartment is 350 sq ft. 450 MAX (if you want to include the bathroom and all that, but I keep the bathroom door shut so I can get better air flow in the living space). We’ve currently been in a heat wave here in NYC, and this thing has not helped what so ever. Online it says the temperature a home should be to feel comfortable is around 78-80 degrees. That is absurd. I have never met anyone comfortable in temperature so high. I usually like to have a surrounding indoor temperature of around 64-68 degrees. It is currently 90 degrees outside and the AC AT ITS BEST blows out 76 degree air. It usually fluctuates from 76-78, but consistently stays in the 77-78 range. This is more than disappointing. My window cannot take a traditional window unit, because I (regrettably) live in a pre-war building. I have this thing pumping out on the highest level all day long, and it will never achieve the temperature I am aiming to get. Even though I prefer 64-68 degree temps, I would be thankful if this thing cooled the room to any temperature below 74 degrees, but it hasn’t happened and won’t happen. I am not going to be the guy to say “don’t buy this product”. But I am going to be the guy to say that “This product is not affective, and you should know it will barely cool your apartment.” A lot of stress on the “BARELY”.
