I think stud-finding is an art, not a science. You don't get a simple and consistent read-out when you slide this unit - or any other stud-finder - along a wall. That's because what's inside the wall may be very different than you think, and it may not be consistent.I gave this to my handy-guy, and he got to work finding studs. In several cases, he wasn't exactly sure he had found the precise edge, but he said it was still a big help.Maybe on a modern building wall, everything is so consistent that stud-finding is simple. But my condo was built in 1937, and it doesn't appear that anybody took it seriously that studs should be 24" on center. A little more, or a little less, in order to accommodate the length of wall, was okay.So the studfinder didn't give us a magic solution, but it sure made it easier to guess accurately.

Nothing much else to say about it. Whether you work in a contractor capacity, or just need a well made, easy to use stud finder for now-and-then home-improvement projects -- this product works as advertised and fits the bill. I give it 5 stars. If I lose it, break it, or wear it out I would definitely consider replacing it with the same model.

Haven"t used the scanner enough to comment on product.

My old stud finder from the previous century seemed to be unreliable, so I bought this on recommendation from a You Tube DIY video. This works well, it really finds where the studs are, and the price is quite reasonable compared to other devices.
