Could withstand a hurricane
Toughest case you can buy. The inside is lined nicely with black suede-like material that keeps your laptop nice and clean. I use this case for an HP Spectre X360. The HP Spectre X360 fits loosely. In order to get a snug and secure fitting I supplements the laptop with a soft sleeve. This ensures that the laptop doesn't move around during transport. Pelican does include several soft foam sticky pads that you can stick on the inside of the case to ensure that your laptop will remain secure. I haven't tested the waterproofing however I do believe that the case will be incredibly resistant to all kinds of inclement weather. One thing to note, this case is a little large. While definitely larger than all soft cases it is the smallest available hard shell clamcase. I typically put the Pelican case in a laptop bag and take it wherever I need to go. However it does come with a handy strap that you can use to transport the Pelican case independently. Overall this is an exceptional product.

It just plain works.
Use it for my 13" macbook air. I'm in med school and carry my computer everywhere so I wanted good protection for it. I use the 4 supplied adhesive pads inside the case and my computer does not wiggle at all. I am very rough on things, and this case has already saved my computer from 1) spilling coffee on it walking out the door 2) being tossed in the floor of my truck 3) dropping it down the stairs (dont ask how this happened haha) and 4) keeping it from being crushed between my pathology and physiology book. This case just plain works. I also have a thin black snap on case and keyboard protector; it still fits nicely in the case. I open and close the case 4 to 5 times a day for the past 4 months and the latches still feel as solid as they did when I first got it. Great product for computer protection. *I would like to note that this case would probably not allow protection against being completely submerged. It would however keep the computer dry in a very heavy rain as long as it was lying flat, right side up.

It can easily detach without much force
I purchased this case January 2014. I love it and took it everywhere I went due to its small footprint. In the Sun, snow, rain you can take it anywhere. People often ask, "What is that?" When I remove the latch and open it their reaction is usually, "Wow, that is nice." The case is durable for the very few times I dropped it when it contained my Macbook Pro. I was relieved. When I take this case it is always on my shoulder with the straps that came with it. Without the straps it is a burden to constantly hold in one had like a notebook. It is easier to drop this way.Unfortunately, for me the loop where the strap is secured broke on one end. See the photos for a better visual. This completely prevents me from easily traveling with the case. I am going contact the company to see what they can do about it. Hopefully there is a solution that will allow me to continue to use this case. It is a pity the the loops for securing the straps are not strong as I thought.** Update **After contacting Pelican directly and sending them photos of the case and where the fault occurred I was placed through an RMA process and within two weeks I received a replacement case. The only requirement on my side was to drill two holes in the case and pay $5USD for the shipment of the replacement.I must say I am very impressed and did not think that after two years of use the company would do anything about it. I highly recommend Pelican and will definitely purchase their products for all my valuable items.

Great for motorcycle travels!
I've ben looking for a laptop case to travel with my motorcycle. Personally, I do like the brutalist look of Pelican cases a lot.Pros:- gets the job done, makes me feel safe- has a little loop for a lock (never tried it tho)- manages to catch compliments somehowCons:- I wished there was a case for my 13" McBook Air or that I could fit my charger into this case. I cannot, so there is quite a bit of space wasted.

Adds some much needed packing insurance for a Lenovo Yoga 900
Very nice case. Fits my Lenovo Yoga 900 quite nicely, but ended up having to use the pads to hold it in place. It does bulk up what was an ultrabook, but I use it inside of a loaded backpack during travelling and it is a lot stress for an ultrabook to handle without some extra protection. Fairly easy to quickly open and pull the laptop out for a TSA walk-through. The case is a little heavy but not so much so - more bulk than heavy. The best benefit is that once I know my laptop is inside of the case, there really is nothing that can damage the laptop short of it being run over by a truck. I pretty much depend on my laptop daily and don't want to be caught by any surprises when traveling, so the added insurance is very nice. The case will far outlast the notebook and I'll probably use it for at least one to two more notebook generations.
