Excellent!! Perfect for my entire family.
Bought it a few weeks ago. Family of four. Two middle school age kids and parents. Someone is ALWAYS on it doing something. My 11 year old set it up for us. She only needed help with holding it as she put in a couple of the screws. Simple! Both kids have iPads with keyboards attached required for school. Along with various apps, they typically use Google Docs, etc. Their school's email is gmail-based. Now they love having a big beautiful screen and full size keyboard to all their work. One daughter will sit there with the iPad with the teacher's instructions up while she does the actual work on the Chromebase. It is also great having separate logins so we each have our own separate worlds. My daughters are already joking that we need another one.I have been a Windows user my entire career. Heavy Word user to produce lots of legal docs and high end spreadsheet use too. No longer in a field with such high demands and I was in need of a new computer. Our Windows desktop is old and slow. The kids could never get any work done. Virus pop ups interrupt work so my hubby is always tinkering with it, even with anti virus software. My very old Thinkpad is slowing down too. Takes forever to even start up, wait for updates, and is heavy. Had to install expensive anti virus software too. I don't like the maintenance anymore. Needed simple. This could not be any better. I did the BIG file transfer off my laptop into Google Drive and I haven't looked back. (Using Google's 2-step verification for extra protection.) I will purchase the Toshiba Chromebook 2 when released next month. Using Google Desktop Remote to log onto work computer. Had been using Log Me In. This is soooooo much easier, faster and free!I use both Google Docs and Word online. My hotmail account gives me 15 gb just like a free gmail account. Figure why not use it. Moving back and forth is easy. (Oh, I am typing this on my phone since my daughter is on the Chromebase playing a game.) Can't wait until I get my Chromebook!Hubby uses it for entertainment sites. His corporate computer demands are high i.e., heavy Word use and very complicated spreadsheets, etc. Anyhow, he does use the Chromebase a little and I can see he is slowly being seduced.Hardware.... We all like the mouse and keyboard. No one in my family has complained. They are fine. Speakers are fine too. In addition to the speaker buttons on the keyboard which correspond to the screen, the two little arrows on the front of the monitor control the monitor's speakers. THEY ARE FINE! Before I found the monitor's speakers I hooked up a pair of speakers. I have since taken them off.Monitor is gorgeous, although unnecessarily large. However, it is fantastic for when I remote desktop onto my work computer where I have two screens. All in all. This is perfect for my family.

Excellent
If you use Google for email, calendar, etc. this is a great machine. The screen is big and colors and picture are clear. It is zippy too. Chrome store apps and Google docs are fast and work well. I've used it a couple of days now and have no complaints. One thing to note is that there are two volume controls. There is one on the keyboard and another one on the monitor. The monitor is set low and seems to be the master. If you turn that one up to 75 out of 100 and then use the keyboard volume you can get the sound to a decent level. Besides that confusion, it is working great.Edit 6/28/2014Now that I have used it for a while I thought I would update the review. I still really like this machine. People have commented about the keyboard and mouse quality. They do feel a little cheap but to get a computer for just over $300 with a great screen I think it is asking too much to expect the same quality as a $2,000 computer. They feel cheap but they work great, no issues at all. I took my old iMac and put it on the storage shelf. I really only use Google products and surf the web on this machine and it is super zippy. I'm getting a second one of these for the house/kids. If you're looking for a home Chrome OS machine, this is a great bang for your buck!Edit 10/26/2016It has been a great machine these last few years. I use it daily to check email, banking, etc. The last few weeks it has been acting up. I did a complete refresh of the OS ("Powerwash") but it hasn't improved much. It will freeze at times for no apparent reason. Looks like it is near the end of its life. With Android coming to Chrome OS machines, but not supported by this machine, I will be replacing it in the near future.

Works Exactly as Advertised
Purchased for my 13-year-old son, to use primarily for Web research and Google Docs, which they use at school. ChromeBase is perfect for that purpose. We keep it in our family room, so we can keep an eye on his usage, and it is attractive, unassuming addition to the room. Remarkable screen resolution and quality for the price point, and since it is running everything through Chrome, the processor is surprisingly fast for its rated speed. Web pages load quickly, video runs smoothly. The built-in speakers are atrocious, but just add a $10 amplified speaker set and that solves that issue. The keyboard and mouse, while not premium quality, work fine under moderate use. Set-up is unbelievably simple; the computer is up and running less than 10 minutes out of the box. Boot-up time, on my unit, is less than seven seconds. This is the future of cloud computing, and within a few years you will see similar products flooding the schools, particularly at the elementary level, because it is a cheap, efficient way to bring the Internet to kids whose families cannot afford it at home. No, it's not a computer for gamers, or for users hooked on multi-tasking, or those who remain wedded to Microsoft applications like Word and Powerpoint (yes, there are work-arounds through the cloud, but for now they remain cumbersome). It also does not work for many employees' access to their company servers in the cloud, because for whatever reason Citrix still does not have an app to launch its receiver through Chrome, unless the company has installed special software. But if you are looking for a cost-effective, fast way to access basic Internet content (which I suspect is at least 95 percent of the real world usage), this is a good way to go.
