Works very well
I work as a small engine mechanic and I am constantly needing to cut rubber fuel hose. I was tired of using a pocket knife or a regular utility knife. When the hose is still installed on the machine trimming back a damaged end can sometimes be a pain. I stumbled across this while looking for some other tools and it looked like a very handy cutter. I tried it out and it works very well. Seems very sturdy and I love the fact that it uses standard utility knife blades you can buy almost anywhere. So when it does get dull, replacement blades are a dime a dozen.I even tested it out on a thick mower belt. It cut through it with no issue. Sometimes belts get damaged and wrapped around pulleys and the only way to get them off is to cut them. Even with a sharp knife it can be a chore to saw through one. This made it easy.

A Great All Around Tool and Perfect for Leaded Glass Work
I bought these on a whim, to see if they'd cut lead came for leaded and stained glass projects. I chose this pair because they use standard razor knife blades, a box of which I keep in the shop for all the various projects requiring use of such a knife.I did a couple test cuts and was more than pleased with the results. It is unlikely I'll be going back to a came knife for other than marking and the occasional cut this cutter cannot handle. It cut through the lead like butter.

Love it.
I work at a marina and I use these to cut line (rope) to splice. Use them every day have two pairs keep one in my store and one in my office so I have one close buy. One of the pairs one of the rubber handles fell off it still works great. The beauty of being able to always just Change the blade and depending on how much you’re cutting. the blades for me cutting A LOT of 3/8 - 1in nylon line last for about 3 months. Just be careful this tool could take a finger off.

Will Be Used for Trimming Bagpipe Chanter Reeds
This tool was recommended to me for the purpose of trimming my bagpipe chanter reeds. It turns out to be exactly the right tool when a reed is a little too thin (or light). Takes a tiny fraction of an inch off both reeds simultaneously. (Note, however, that this will cause your reed to play a little sharper, because its length has been shortened.)

it is a reliable and very useful tool for cutting everything from tubing to gasket materials
While it is misleading that craftsman chose to emphasize the "made in USA" stamping on the blade in their pics, it is a reliable and very useful tool for cutting everything from tubing to gasket materials, etc.. I just like that it uses the common utility blade as a replacement as opposed to their old cutters which required you to purchase their special blades. It would have been 5 stars if not for the deception of Craftsman as mentioned earlier.

Best cutters I have for their size
This is the only cutter I have, that is precise enough to cut paper. My other ones, will not make a cut along the entire length of the blade, as the alignment isn't as precise. It uses standard sized utility knife blades, which is good as they are cheap and easy to find, but it does limit the size of what you can cut. If you don't need to cut anything bigger than a garden hose in one snip, they will be just fine. They will cut larger hoses, if you 'squash' it, cut from one side, and then the other.Probably the best feature (other than the precision alignment of the blade) is the ease of blade changing. The handles spring open to a detent, and pulling the handles farther apart past the detent, releases the blade for changing. Pull the old blade out, put the new one into position, and then carefully squeeze the handles together all the way. If you did it right (which is simple to do) the blade will self-align in its slot as the handles come fully together. After you do this a couple times, blade changes take maybe 10 seconds. The handles are stamped 'China', and the blades 'USA'.

I like that you can change the blades when they get ...
I have an old Craftsman Handicut (made in USA model) and have been looking for a back up. The Handicut they sell now are made in China. My old one opens automatically after making a cut, but the ones made in China have a tendency to stay closed. You have to pull the handle to open it up again. This is also made in China and is the same. However, I find that if you point the blade up, squeeze the handle, and give it a couple of shakes, the lock button will slide down and the tool with open. I like that you can change the blades when they get dull. And these take standard utility knife blades, which aren't expensive. Also bought WORKPRO Utiliity Knife Blades Dispenser SK5 Steel 100 pack on Amazon.UPDATE: Remove the small Phillips screw in the middle of the slide lock before use. This allows you to remove the slide lock completely, so it will no slide into lock position while you're working. When you're done, screw the lock back on and will lock closed for storage. As such, I have changed my original 4 star rating to 5 stars!

Excellent for stained glass work
I purchased this specifically so that I can cut H channels lead came for stained glass work. Typically, knipper cutters create one "good side" straight cut and the off-cut has a 45 degree slant. I specifically wanted a thin blade plier style cutter so that it can cleanly cut both sides of a lead came so that I did not have to clean up the offcut side. I gotta tell ya, this thing is absolutely incredible for the purpose of lead cutting and stained glass making. you can get rid of all other styles of lead came cutters because this will absolutely produce the cleanest cut with zero issues. It looks fairly stout and has a good quality feel. It is a little pricey for something relatively simple. Alas, a much welcomed addition to stained glass making tools.
