A delicious mix of interesting ingredients
A caffeine-free, interesting fusion of chamomile & lavender flower, spearmint leaf, hemp, liquorice & lashwagandha root. Not being a fan of liquorice, I was hoping that this wouldn’t overpower the flavour of this delicate sounding tea.Luckily, the flavours are perfectly balanced with the spearmint taking a small role on centre stage which is great for me as I love minty teas. It was calming and relaxing and perfect to drink in the evening due to being decaffeinated. It didn’t need a full 15 mins to brew as recommended but that’s great if you want to leave the teabags in a pot without the tea becoming over-stewed.Beautiful package design as ever from Pukka and I love that the teas are individually packaged as I like to carry them around in my handbag (although I am not sure if they are recyclable). Unfortunately, the box was damaged and squashed due to poor packaging.

Liquorice!
The neat cardboard box for the 'Pukka Peace, Organic Herbal Tea with Hemp & Ashwagandha' is attractive with an easy to open, re-closable lid. Inside are pretty blue individual paper packets keeping the tea bags fresh - also convenient to take one with you when out of the house. It is a bonus that the tea bags are compostable - a lot aren't nowadays. Great that the tea is organic, also caffeine free and I love the company ethos of sustainability, being carbon neutral etc.Even through the paper packets I could smell a lovely strong spearmint flavour. and I couldn't wait to try a cup. The instructions say brew for up to 15 minutes. I brewed for 10 minutes and the tea was a pleasant light amber colour. I could smell lavender as the overriding aroma now, not spearmint. On tasting I got lavender again, which I love, no spearmint at all but as an after taste there was a distinct cloying liquorice flavour that lingered in my mouth. I do not like sweetness in my herbal teas, or any hot beverages for that matter and the liquorice content makes it taste nastily sweet to me. I do wish liquorice root was not included in so many herbal teas.I will finish the packet, as I don't like waste but unfortunately it is not the tea for me.

Surprisingly calming
Given how over-powering spearmint can be, I had my doubts about this hemp, spearmint & ashwagandha tea. When the Amazon box arrived and I got the initial smell as I opened the box, I thought that the spearmint was going to be too much. However, I shouldn’t have worried. Even after infusing for the specified period (I normally find Pukka teas don’t need anywhere near as long as the instructions say), the resulting flavour was gentle and calming, not overpowering or in-your-face at all. Caffeine free, this does live up to the description of “A cup of tea tranquillity”. Thankfully, I don’t pick up on the flavour of liquorice which is apparently present (I don’t like liquorice).I will be buying this in future. Recommended.

Advertised as 4 pack (80 tea bags) but only 1 pack (20 tea bags arrived)!
I have tried a few Pukka teas in the past and have enjoyed them all so I was interested to try this flavour and see whether they had the effect of making me feel peaceful and relaxed. I like my tea quite strong so I brewed it for the full 15 minutes by which time it had become a nice deep amber colour. It smelt strongly of mint whilst it was infusing and as I like mint tea I was looking forward to tasting it. The mint flavour wasn't dominant; it tasted closer to chamomile tea with a strong aftertaste which I guessed was either licorice, hemp or ashwagandha. (I've never tried the latter two before so have no flavour comparison). I'm not fond of licorice but here it wasn't too overwhelming and the overall flavour was quite palatable. As for the effects, I tried it twice a day for ten days and I can say that it did make me feel more relaxed and generally calm without making me feel sleepy or lethargic. Three days after drinking the whole box, I started feeling a little stressed for the first time since I begun having the tea so perhaps there is something to it. However that was just my reaction and yours may be different.A word of warning - I received only 1 box not 4 as is shown. However my review is based on the quality of the tea and its effects rather than the supply issue. It is also good that Pukka donates 1% back as well as the tea being ethically sourced and organic. Like all herbal teas, remember to store out of sunlight. The bags are individually wrapped, which keeps them fresh.

More like chamomile and lavender
This is a pleasant, smooth but slightly earthy Pukka tea, not too dissimilar to their night time offering but with much less lavender. It’s complex, and psychologically quite relaxing. The hemp and the ashwagandha root are both a novelty, but they really aren’t very distinctive in what they add flavour-wise.What I find odd about Pukka teas sometimes is that although the highlighted ingredients on the front of the packet are “hemp, spearmint and ashwagandha”, for me the dominant taste of this tea is two of the other ingredients, which are there in much larger quantities- chamomile, and liquorice. If they’d called this tea “chamomile and liquorice” I think it would’ve been more accurate to what actually comes across to your mouth. Checking for a second opinion with a colleague, she added that it’s also “quite minty”, so the spearmint does cut through a little.Pukka is a reliable brand, and these are good quality teabags, with strong green credentials, so I admire the brand, and the tea in principle. As far as their wide range of flavours go, though, this one is not as special as it sounds like on paper, and won’t end up being one of my favourites.
