Excellent laptop, everything I was looking for
I bought this in mid-December 2019. First, my only complaint: no non-skid feet or strips on the bottom, so I found something here on Amazon that suffices. (I leave my laptop on the pillow arm of our leather couch when not using it.) OTOH, my husband has a similar laptop by HP that came with great rubber strip feet and after one year one of the strips has fallen off, so I can't complain much about my laptop! I still give it 5 stars, something most people never do.This laptop was on a 1 day super-sale at Dell before Christmas but when I tried to buy they were sold out! Nothing else the sales rep suggested met all my requirements, at ANY price. I bought it here for about $130 more (it was still marked down a lot). I was a bit confused at first by how to actually use the SS drive which is the D drive, but the speed with which it starts up and programs are ready is worth it and I can move anything that ends up on C to D if need be.For the first few weeks it never received/installed an update. I'm used to tons of updates coming shortly after firing up a new laptop but with this, nothing. Then after early January updates just started popping up. When I researched (here in the reviews), I found at least 1 person whose laptop had shipped with Win 10 image for Asus installed that wasn't receiving updates. I don't know if that was my issue but it cleared up on its own within 3 or 4 weeks and all has been well since. If anyone has a question about this laptop, I'll answer if I'm able to! I have to say, Amazon came through when Dell could not! Maybe Amazon was the cause of Dell selling out during the holidays - LOL! (I've always preferred Dell.)

Blue screen of death
Computer arrived, turned it on and Immediately had a blue screen error with the message Windows recovery, reboot computer. After multiple attempts of turning off restarting etc. it was clear I was sent a faulty computer.I requested a return and was granted one. I contacted the seller directly message them what happened and inform them I didn’t necessarily want a refund but I’d rather have them send me a new computer that worked. They were a bit difficult to deal with but regardless I was sent another computer rather than issuing a return. The second computer that showed up was the exact same computer I returned only a few weeks ago. This time I was able to get through a few more steps of set up before the computer automatically shut off on me. After multiple failed attempts I could not get past one certain set up screen. The only reason this review gets one star is because the seller was somewhat easy to deal with. Had I been sent a completely new and different computer the second time maybe I would’ve had this issue. It was apparent I was sent the exact same computer because the charging cord was wrapped up the same way I had wrapped it up and I made sure to loop the cord a certain way so I can tell if it was the same one or not.I chose to order the exact same computer directly from Dell.

Great performance.
The Dell 17" Inspirion 7000 laptop is great for getting work done. The SSD for the OS means very responsive performance while the 1GB hard drive gives plenty of storage for data. The touch screen is great and the keyboard is very responsive for even the fastest typist. Sound is OK, which is par for the course for laptops and battery life is very good considering everything.

Seller’s alterations caused problems
It’s OK now but the seller upgraded the computer and made a big mistake. It’s a Dell computer and they had loaded a copy of windows specialized for Asus. It took a while to figure out why the normal Windows update wouldn’t work. After a few hours and several phone calls I finally got it working. Now it works great. Fast and responsive. Dell took no responsibility because the seller had altered it.

Better buy extended warranty
Warranty expired 9/5. Bluetooth disappeared 9/6, wifi disappeared 9/7. Got locked out of my computer 9/7. Dell wanted $99 to unlock the computer, would charge extra to fix Bluetooth and wifi issue. Did a factory reset, Bluetooth and wifi worked for a couple hours before disappearing again. I am so pissed off.

Fast
This computer is fast. Have not had any problems with it so I haven't used Tech Support. It was out of the box and set up was a breeze compared to the HP I bought.

Silver keyboard
Very disappointed with this laptop the pictures here show a black keyboard but this one came with a all silver one which i don't like it's just too bright. I thought the Dell 2-in-1 7000 series all came with a black keyboard?
