Frigidaire 8,000 BTU 115V Window-Mounted Mini-Compact Air Conditioner with Mechanical Controls, White, FFRA081ZAE

I purchased this AC right before the really hot humid weather hit at the end of June this year.. It came via UPS, quick and undamaged. Easy install. As of today, it has worked really well. Cools down my 850 sq ft apt really well even though it's stated cooling capacity is 350 sq ft. I also live on the 3rd floor and it is mostly large windows all around in every room. There is no tree shade and it is typically at the very least 10 degrees hotter than the temp outside. I will note that my apt. is completely square with no added spaces, long hallways , upstairs , etc. and I'm sure that accounts for how well it cools the whole place. I also have blinds to filter out the sun's heat. I actually at times have had to turn it to low so I don;t freeze myself out. The noise level is pretty much like most ACs. this is my 3rd AC and I think they're all noisy. I just got my 1st electric bill and it's okay. Pretty much inline with what I expected, so I'll say average for what I use. The fan option is okay, but the air coming in seems a little warm as opposed to the fan I have in my BR that seems to pull in the cool air from outside, but maybe the motor in the AC / Fan contributes to that. But I purchased this AC for it's cooling capacity and it has surpassed in that aspect. I prefer the mechanical controls due to my first AC had the knobs and lasted 7 yrs and then some when I gave to my son after getting a digital portable floor model which was the worst appliance ever. So hopefully this will have the same endurance of my last window AC. All in all , for me , a good buy.

Does a fairly good job of cooling down a bedroom on any setting. It can be a 90 degree day and it will cool to the low 70’s, which seems decent for a window unit. Every once in awhile the noise does bother me. It seems if there’s any condensation it beats against the styrofoam inside and makes noise. Other than that it’s a typical humming sound that doesn’t impact my sleep. Overall I’m impressed with the cooling performance and energy usage of this unit. Even though it’s not energy star rated, it’s still cheaper than running the central air conditioning.

its a little loud, fans could be redesigned for a better sound, and it has Styrofoam thermal shielding in it which causes some concern for longevity and adds to the noise level. But it is a manual control air conditioner without any of the fancy digital interface features that could tend to fail. And the price makes it a good deal. The BTU's may be overrated just a bit too. I still like it though, pretty good value.

Air conditioner came with only 1 tiny condenser fin bent, which is a miracle in today's shipping. It is easy to install compared to other units. I highly recommend getting a window unit support bracket. It saved me time and gives me a piece of mind knowing that the AC is supported at the base and not by the window sill itself. For 20 dollars on Amazon it's very much worth it.As for the unit, this thing is COLD. In a room about 350 square feet, this thing will freeze you out in about 5-10 minutes. The sturdy dial settings make for easy tuning and you don't have to worry about an electronic board failing like on some of the fancier units available.Compared to other window units I've had in the past, this is slightly quieter than most. If installed properly, there is no rattling and the compresser kicking on isn't enough to wake me up at night.3 weeks of use and I'm very satisfied so far. Will update if anything changes.

This unit came on time and packaged well. Brand new in original packaging. This thing blows so cold! I ordered another air conditioner along with this one, and honestly.. I didn't need the other one! This one little unit could probably cool the entire 3 bedroom house up until the hottest part of the day around 3 pm. It works so well and I'm super happy with this purchase! It's not too loud, loud enough to know it's on but it's not annoying or anything. I did not rate energy efficiency because I'm not sure of it yet. I also didn't rate "remote control" because it doesn't come with any. It has simple knobs to turn on the face of the unit which is completely fine with me.

I bought this product on May 28th and today’s date is June 15th but I’ve been fighting with it all week to work. It worked great at first blowing cold air and keeping my room super cold for the little time I had it but then It stopped working after not even 3 weeks. I’ve been fighting with it constantly to get it to blow cold air. It blows cold air for maybe two hours for it to stop and I have to reset it again but after two hours I go through the same process of resetting it. Today it was 70°F and I had my AC on high cool and on cool level 7 but I somehow woke up sweating during my nap because my AC was blowing warm air!! Another example is I just came home from being gone for 8 hours and the downstair rooms with only window open was colder then my room that actually had an AC in it. Once again I have not had this product for more then 3 weeks and it already broke. $270 down the drain. Talked to an amazon person about it for 30 minutes and got zero help only got a 20% discount to some how find a store to fix it that is open during this virus. Highly disappointed and is defiantly not worth the money or the time. I really tried to give this product the benefit of the doubt due to me reading the bad reviews before buying it because there was so many good reviews but I now learned to always trust the bad reviews!! Don’t fall for this like I did. Save your money, time and invest into a different AC unit that will be reliable because this one surely is not and amazon does not help one bit!!!

There is no energy saver mode, but overall the unit cools very well for an 8,000 btu. The downside is that above the low cool setting, the unit is extremely loud. As long as we keep it on low cool, the a/c unit keeps our room cold and the noise level is acceptable.
