Very efficient heater
Very pleased with the purchase. We live in an area with municipal electric which is by far the cheapest way to heat our home. Wired our brand new home for these and they work excellent. Like any type of electric baseboard, radiant or convection heater, they are slow to heat the room but keep it a very consistent temperature, very easily. We love that we don't have to be concerned where furniture or belonging go.

Amazing with a little different installation technique.
This sunroom was always freezing with 2 regular baseboard heaters. Now this radiant one heats the tile floor and now the room is amazing. I am a hvac contractor and tried this setup prior to the permanent installation. The heater does get hot so donβt touch it. lol. Actually no hotter than the old baseboard ones that it replaced. 5 stars. ππΌππΌ

nice office addition
this heater was easy to install, it operates with no noise at all and does a good job of keeping my office warm and my electric cost down, I will be buying more to install in my house.

Looks nice, works fine.
This item looks better than the Amazon picture shows, it is lighter colored. Also the description is not correct - there is no fan on this heater (I haven't seen a fan on a cove heater before, so that would have suprised me anyway). The heater functions like other cove heaters I have experienced. It is a mild heat, the heater itself does not get very hot, but works well to raise the temperature in my basement office from 60 to 75 (10'x14' room). I would recommend 240v for heaters since 120v is just not enough wattage, and will struggle to heat all but the smallest spaces. Also get the longest cove heater you can fit on your wall. This 59" heater is minimum for my size room, but this is all the space I had to allow clearance with a door and smoke alarm.I have experience with both Cove heaters and Baseboard heaters. Baseboard heaters are cheaper, and may perform a little better for the same size, but Cove heaters work better in rooms where you don't want a heater down low behind furniture - so makes it more flexible to arrange the room. Cove heaters also tend to radiate heat down so feel warm when in front of it. Both heater types need to be left 'on' with a thermostat control, as the recover time is long (they don't work well to quickly bring the room temperature up, but will hold the room at a comfortable temperature if left on). The only down-side to both heaters is you will have to plan ahead when finishing the room to run wires from the service panel in your home to the location. They are easy to install if you plan ahead, but not easy to install after the room is finished.Overall I am happy with this heater's appearance, and o.k. with it's performance.

1) Paint peeled off with 6 uses 2) Should never be attached to wall directly
UPDATE: King Electric replaced the unit and will analyze the original to determine the cause of the peeling. The replacement is working well. This is a defectively manufactured product. Purchased Sept 4, 2012, limited use. Paint is peeling off the unit with chips on the floor below. 2nd - this unit was first screwed to the wall as intended by the manufacturer. I quickly discovered how hot the wall was - and made two half inch spacers for it out of a couple of half inch copper tubing. Unit heats nicely - BUT, do not purchase this unit, you'll have paint chips all over the floor.King KCV1204 420-Watt 120-Volt 34-Inch Cove Heater, AlmondKing Electrical Mfg. Company

Hot but not effective
Everyone has probably figured out that the Amazon description does not match the "cove heater" label or the picture. I ordered one expecting a cove heater (not a toe-kick heater described in the written description) and indeed received a cove heater.I promptly installed the heater. The instructions are minimal but fine for an electrician and probably adequate for most electrically inclined home handypersons. It is designed so that input power can be wired into either end. The opposit end can then be terminated for single unit installation or extended to additional heater(s).I hoped for and expected large amount of radiant heating (heating objects) and lesser convective heating (heating air). What I experienced was the opposite. The aluminum extrusion (the face of the cove heater) gets HOT and will burn your fingers if you touch for more than a second. Objects (mostly tile in a bathroom in my case) were minimally heated by the radiant heat. The hot surface did heat the air and convective air flow could be felt. The description says this 47" heater consumes 560 watts. My watt meter showed 538 watts. The box the heater arrived in rated it at 600 watts. As a comparison, I can feel considerably more radiant heat standing beneath one of those red bathroom heat lamps (probably 150 watts)than i can standing below this 500+ watt cover heater. To me it behaves more like a resistive heater.... the problem with that is that resistive heaters (like baseboard heaters) are a lot more functional if they are located near the floor and the warm air rises. For my application it seems like the heat starts and ends up at the ceiling and the bathroom fan will just pull it off the ceiling and suck it outside. That is my experience, your mileage may vary.

Works great.
Heater acts much like a baseboard heater but is installed near the ceiling. I installed this to free up wall space in my bedroom. It works well and is able to keep my room a constant temp. You will need to have a thermostat to use this heater.

Disappointed in what/how product shipped...
Purchased this product for a 12x12 basement bedroom. Wanted a room heater that didn't take up floor space nor limited furniture layout...although I haven't installed this product yet, I give it 2 stars based upon what was in and not in the package as delivered. 1. The cove heater does not have installation instructions.2. It was in a generic brown box (not in a "manufacturer packaged" box).3. The product looks like it may be damaged? As in the fact that the face support brackets were bent and not "connected" or supporting the face.Probably the most disappointing product I've received through Amazon in easily over 100 purchases.

Must oversize to work great
Installation was easy. However we were disappointed with the heat output when compared to our old 750w baseboard heater. Will have to add another one. Looks great and free up the floor space.

Great idea in heating
I had this heater installed in a bedroom due to lack of floor space. This provides a nicer heat than the one replaced that was installed originally against the wall on the floor.
