Will never buy a 'real' VR headset after finding this!
I was really impressed with the quality this product. The cardboard is durable and easy to fold back down into the little 'box' that holds it. Of course, it is still cardboard so it has the potential to be crushed. I tried some of the much more expensive VR headsets and they were highly disappointing. If you're still trying to figure out what kind of VR headset to get or what VR is like, I'd definitely try this first. The only thing that would be a nice additional feature is a head-strap of some sort. Some VR movies/videos can be pretty long so it would be nice to sit and watch them without having to hold the headset the whole time.*Also, do be aware if you have your phone in a case you'll have to take the phone out of it in order to fit it into the viewing area!

Flimsy cardboard. Fairly narrow IPD for a guy
Other's have said it. The cardboard used was really weak and the hook-loop fastener is absurdly strong. It requires a few minutes to undo the fastener or you'll mangle the cardboard.Once I had my phone situated, I found that it was easier to just slide my phone in and out from the side instead of trying to wrestle with the fastener. If you have this unit—and it works for you—I'd recommend sliding the phone in and out instead of opening. That will probably prolong the life of the unit. The unit looks good. I think it would be fine once you get it set up. For me, I couldn't use it at all because it seems to be made for people with a very small IPD. Though I do have a wide face so maybe most people might not have problems with this unit. Everything was out of focus and I couldn't get a good image.

Didn't work for me
Product doesn't work for me. Images blur, double, and there was damage on the front... perhaps this unit had been returned before. Tried it with and without reading glasses, and I can read without the glasses, as I'm typing this now. I watched a few music vids, pix, etc. Not someone who returns products... so will keep it and let a grandkid or someone try it out. Had hopes it would be fun. Easy assembly.

Amazing and cheap way to get into the world of VR
I absolutely love this product. I had no idea what to expect when I bought it and boy was I surprised. The first thing you will notice is how good the quality of the headset is, I am surprised it has lasted so long and after so many people have used it, and the only noticeable degradation is the fraying of the edges and the loosening of the folding parts. It is also very comfortable, and I was happy that I didn't need to make any adjustments or add any foam to the inside of the headset. I didn't know what to expect as my first venture into VR and I was really surprised. It's not easy to explain what it's like to use VR, but all I can say is, if you want a cheap and exciting way into the world of VR, this is the best way to go. This is no Oculus Rift, but I do recommend anyone to buy this product, whether you use it for 5 minutes or 5 months, this VR headset is amazing and I think everyone should try it at least once.

I'm impressed with this VR box so far
This VR box works pretty good for viewing 360 videos shot on GoPro and rendered via Final Cut and uploaded to YouTube. Some basic instructions on how to set up and use would have been helpful. It will be interesting to see how this holds up after a few months use.

Nice VR Device
My one complaint with the product is that the glue holding the velcro strip onto the cardboard is not good. The velcro came loose on day 1. Other than that the product works great.

The velcro is pretty cheap and mine ripped off the cardboard within a week or so. You probably should also buy one with a headstrap since it's pretty annoying to hold it up to your head for more than a minute. But if you just want to try it out, it's a cheap-ish option. Don't expect to use it for more than two weeks.

Overall a wonderful experience!
I love this product! The only issue is comfort because the cardboard rests on the bridge of your nose and leaves a mark, but it’s not uncomfortable enough to make me stop using it, it really is fun! Great value, adhesion is well done for what you’re paying, enjoy!

Amazingly effective for something that is so cheap and bought for a laugh.
Worked perfectly for me. Very easy to set-up - I didn't even bother reading instructions. My Note 4 works fine with it and the cardboard app scanned the QR code and set it up for me.Just to address some complaints I've seen about blurring in reviews of all these cardboard units.... The phone is only a couple of inches from your eye. I am short sighted and can read close up items fine. However when using this device without my glasses everything is blurred. Especially so in my worse right eye. It appears as though the lenses in this device somehow perform a correction so that you are effectively looking at the screen from 20 meters away. Therefore if you try to use this without your glasses or contact lenses the image will be blurred exactly as it would be when looking at distant objects in real life. The cardboard device is not at fault - it is your eyes that are to blame! The good news is that you can use your glasses just fine with this device, in fact I found it worked just as well with my glasses as it did with my contact lenses. Obvious be sure to clean the lenses and your phone screen before use. Your phone screen obviously has dirt and greasy finger prints on it and when I let non-glasses wearers use the device they got so close that they put smears on the lenses - in my case it happened when I allowed women to use it and I guess it was make-up.The VR effect is really amazing for the price although it varies depending on the app. Not gonna be on a par with a £2500 PC and an Oculus Rift or something but what it achieves for the price of a few pints is incredible. I guess you do also need a powerful phone to get the best out of it. Otherwise you will be dealing with low frame rates and lag. Literally everyone I have shown it has been thrilled and raving about it.

It really surprised me tbh
I have done a lot of research into mobile VR. I have a Galaxy S4. It does seem that, with the exception of Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream, all of the headsets are a variation on Google Cardboard. The main difference between actual cardboard headsets and the plastic headsets are: build quality, comfort, adjustment and fitting, i.e. head strap. The optics were the biggest concern for me but I can confidently say that the I AM CARDBOARD headset has very clear optics. Methods of adjustment, such as focus and eye width, as seen on some of the plastic models are totally unnecessary. In fact, I think having to mess around with those adjustments would make the experience worse as I tried to perfect the image. The IAC headet is very well made and the card is strong, lacquered/laminated in some way and would be less prone to wear. It works really well. It is certified by Google and has a QR code enabling it to be used with the Google Cardboard app very easily. I’m very impressed. Even the little capacitive button works well. I was going to buy a Bobovr Z4, but I really don’t need to now that I have this. The lack of a head strap doesn’t seem to matter either as it seems intuitive to want to hold it against your face. I will upgrade to Google Daydream once I have a phone that supports it, but I really am fine with this for the time being. Excellent despatch delivery by Amazon, as ever. I am a Prime member.

Fun gimmick (though not necessarily best value version)
Works well; though if you plan on carrying it around and packing into original cover (just 4 sides of box it slides into), the velcro is quite strong which means it can bend the card a little if you're not careful how you detach it for putting phone in/out and folding back up. Not the cheapest card headset, but does use fairly stiff card. The face side has a bit of plastic film so your forehead doesn't leave sweat on the card, and the curved card does keep light out from outside ok enough, though the v-shaped slot for your nose isn't that comfortable after longer periods. Would be nice to have some foam there or something - could probably add that yourself quite easily with some glue/double-sided tape or something. Don't know how it compares to others. My Galaxy S4 fits in fine even with a double-layer protective silicone+plastic cover on that bulks it up a bit.You align a little notch in the inside of the viewer (visible from the eyepiece side in the hole where you put your nose) with the point where the two eye views meet when playing something in 3D mode. You then use the button on the top of the viewer to press a piece of card (with a coating so it works like your finger would) against the screen as the way to bring up a menu/select an item during what you're watching. It doesn't have a QR code to scan to configure Google Cardboard viewer but the default or one like it is fine from experience. The standard way (in the apps I know) to control it is to use the button on the top of the viewer (which is a coated U-shaped tab of cardboard that hinges on a cardboard join inside the viewer, very simple and will eventually wear out I'm sure - but looks ok compared to the rest of it), you click the button to get a menu, look around and the menu stays in the same place so your view changes to focus on each menu item which animates to hint thats the one you're pointing at; then the menu item selected by pressing the button on the outside again. The whole thing is held shut (and your phone is kept in there by friction) using a velcro strip on top of the viewer (on a part of the cardboard that folds over the top). Having used it maybe 10 or 20 times since I've had it for the last 9 months, the top tab that folds over to seal it with the velcro on has some faint creases in the card from pulling it undone to get the phone out quite a few times, but no reason to think it'll tear soon - take a bit of care and don't rip it open too quickly and I'm sure it'll last as long as the rest of the item.Size limits:Your phone would need to fit in the space for it when sideways inside this viewer - maybe a phone up to 82mm wide (phone width, therefore becomes vertical height when in the viewer) in total is the maximum it looks like it'll cope with comfortably, maybe 83 or 84mm if bending the card a bit - beyond that I'd go look at the other models intended for bigger phones/phablets.The height of your phone (how tall it is, becomes the width when in the viewer ie. across the view to left and right eyes and either side of) should probably be up to maximum of 144mm tall for the best fit, but taller is probably ok if you don't mind it poking out a bit and if you have more than average space around the screen. The thickness (I'd call it depth) of the phone should be only up to 7mm at the sides, if it is a curved phone or gets fatter in the middle that ought to be ok too I'd guess (just a guess).Owning this made me go hunting for 3D "SBS" (side-by-side) videos and 360° ones too. Is it worth buying a copy of any movies in 3D versions to watch them on this with? Hmm, depends on the cost - I wouldn't pay more than a pound or two extra from the plain (mobile) version myself, and there is a reasonable amount of properly free 3d content out there but you need to find the good viewer that can pick the right settings for some of them and other ones are intended for different devices and look odd or won't play well or at all. The VR AA Cinema Cardboard one is better for me than the google viewer, works on more content. I also discovered after purchase that some adult-only content (the "future" technology stuff always jumped on by them first as usual) is also there too, just wish there was more variety (in general) suitable for Google Cardboard viewing.Yes, its a bit gimmicky, but it does work quite well. You could pad the nose hole if you wanted for more comfort - I find it ok for occasional use.I'm not a fan of the Google Cardboard app/viewer, I use the AA cinema one instead for most things where it works, much more control and it can work with content not built for the Google cardboard setup as you can set the zoom level/whether its "SBS" (side-by-side) or other setups, whether its 360° or just 180° view etc.. I'm making my own velcro strap as I enjoy a bit of crafting and its trivially cheap to buy small amounts of velcro/elastic in a shop off a reel of it.

Got mine today and thought it was a bit neat! Comes n a nice box that will help protect the lenses from scratches when not in use and basically just folds out into shape. Its not overly large to hold (didn't get a head strap with it) and looks nice in the black. Downloaded Goodles cardboard app for android and the star wars app, also watched some youtube vids made for VR. Nothing is exceptional, most of its good quality, but some were a bit blurred or didn't quite work. Thats not the Cardboards fault, just the VR apps arent quite there yet.Biggest downside? The cardboard does begin to hurt the bridge of your nose after awhile, it needs a bit of foam there. And i found that the supplied rubber band to hold the phone in place actually caused my phone to thinkn the screen was being activated (in this case adjusting teh volume most times!). Got to be a better way to keep the phone tight and in place.Over all good for abit of fun but can soon see it being put on the shelf when the novelty wears off.

The most expensive Google Cardboard but far from the best....look elsewhere.
I bought this as I didn't want to a) Try making my own and source the parts and b) buy from a smaller/unknown manufacturer and have it be poor quality. Therefore I stumped up £15 for what is essentially some cardboard and plastic lenses. The product arrived fine, but when I lifted the top flap (which is Velcroed down), the glue wasnt strong enough to hold the other side of the velcro so the entire velcro arrange ment came off and I have had to try and reglue it. Furthermore, the produce no longer fits in the slide case because the force required to seperate the top flap as slightly misshapen the product. If this had been a few £s, I wouldn't take such issue, but I purposefully bought a higher priced Google cardboard in the hope such issues would not exist. This product is massively overpriced and very poorly made.Attached are photoes off the ripped Velcro patches due to the glue not being strong enough and the bent top lid due to the force required to seperate the Velcro. The pads are attached to cardboard not the Space Shuttle so why are they so strong, thus damaging the product?Apart from that, the product works fine in its intended function and is kinda fun.
