Stable and smooth, plenty of storage, easy to trailer.
Inshore and Offshore fishing machine. Tracks well, stable and fast. Great workhorse. Use it to fish the Outer banks and Shenandoah and Potomac. Very versatile. the main bow hatch is wide enough to store and easily access all the gear. Paddle holders work well and built in rod holders are fantastic, especially when used for trolling. Takes abuse well and stands up to rocks and scratches. Seat is very comfortable and the sruppers drain the water well, when combines with scrupper plugs a four season fishing machine. Good value for the money. Built in foot rests are better than most of the adjustable ones I used in the past. Did not use the rudder option but the pre-drilled holes look dependable. Carrying handles are very comfortable and the only minus would be the center key/phone hatch, it leaks and does not seem to hold seal as such accumulates water. I just got rid off the top and use it for bait and tackle storage as an open bin. PROS: Price, weight, stability and versatility, speed and material. CONS: Center console hatch cover.

Great manufacturer, TERRIBLE reseller
Delivered on time and as promised. Unfortunately, "packaging" was nothing more than thin cardboard wrap and plastic sheeting, both of which were torn to shreds by time I received it. Kayak exterior is gouged and scratched. Understanding this is a VERY BULKY item, but I'm thinking that if only wrapped in bubble wrap sheeting, the protection would have been way better...While OCEAN KAYAK has a reputation for excellent products, they may want to tighten up on allowing resellers to market their products - I would have loved to give this 5 stars, but Johnson Outdoors' sloppy processing and shipping precluded it.VERY disappointed.

You will need a foam pad to make it more comfortable. Also
The seat bottom on this kayak is very hard. You will need a foam pad to make it more comfortable. Also, you will get your bottom wet, as scupper holes are right under the seat. Otherwise, this is a good fishing kayak.

Overall a great boat
I'd like to start off by saying that the kayak itself is amazing. I live in Minnesota so I have about 300 lakes to choose from in a 50 mile radius. I took this kayak out today in some pretty choppy water, and easily 25-30 mph gusts at times. This thing tracked the water easily, and didn't get knocked around to much when I found my spot to fish. I also managed to get back to the landing i launched from easily, and they was with the wind blowing at me not for me. I also love how big the bungee well is for storage, and the design of the front dry hatch. A plus is that they included scupper holes in the bungee well that were designed in mind to take transducers for a fish finder. Kayaking is a sport that will use Caribeaners, and this thing has plenty of spots for them (I personally attached an anchor system, and the seat too). The kayak is really stable so don't worry so much about tipping, but I would find where the tipping point is. Do this on a warm day, or a cold if you have the proper gear, and practice getting back into it. I'm not sure if this kayak is stable enough to stand on as some people say it is, but I personally would probably never try it. This isn't the Sexiest looking kayak, but the pattern is attractive and best of all generally reflects heat for hot days. Now for some "negatives" (I'm picky). I'm like how they included fishing rod holders. It saved me from buying about 25-50 dollars worth of parts to get my own and then the time to install. I do wish the holders were installed a bit more forward. It can be awkward trying to put your rod, net, or whatever back when you are done. The center dry hatch is more of a moist hatch. Water will splash into your boat, and for some reason the center hatch just doesn't keep water out. Your stuff probably won't get soaked, but it might if you tip it over/take on a lot of water. This issue can probably be solved with a big enough rubber fitting. Which leads me into my next point. The boat is rated for 400-450 pounds of weight (you+gear). If you weigh around 220 or more buy universal scupper plugs, you will take on a fair amount of water (I weight 260 pounds and generally bring about 20 lbs of gear if even that) This isn't necessarily a bad thing in the summer, but your kayaking season will end sooner rather than later if live in a place with four seasons, and don't plug the scuppers. Especially since Ocean Kayak weight limits are between that range depending on your comfort level with how much water you take on. I would at least recommend plugging the holes underneath where you sit (bad placement in my opinion) and the bungee well. Nobody wants a wet butt, and you might not want your gear in the bungee well wet either. With all of that said, if you do not want to get wet do not buy a kayak. You can plug every hole, have on neoprene waders, rubber boots, and water proof spray every portion of the boat, but the fact is you will get wet in a kayak. Kayak paddles will drip, and the occasionally wave my splash you. My final negative is the seat provided isn't particularly comfortable for more than an hour. Ocean Kayak does have an upgrade though. To review, this Kayak is fast, stable, and tracks well. You get some cool angler in mind features, and lots of storage. The negatives are Ticky tacky things, like the wishing the supplied fishing rod holders were moved up a bit, or the placement of the middle scupper hole not being under your butt. That being said this is a wonderful kayak in the kayak sense (fast, tracks well, while for its size, and stable), and amazing in the general fishing sense(transducer sized scupper holes, fishing rod holder, tackle box straps). This thing also isn't too heavy to carry around with one person.

Amazing Kayak for ANY occasion!
Amazing Kayaks! Have used them in BIG rivers and little rivers, lakes, ponds and everywhere else under the sun. Amazing stability and easy to transport. These should last a lifetime if taken care of! Would purchase these if you're looking at river kayaking.

This is a great boat, fast yet stable
This is a great boat, fast yet stable, no hull slap common on wider boats, no one else in my area had this color.
