Buyer Beware
This dash-cam is so-so. It has some good and some negative aspects, and ultimately I had to return it due to being defective and fundamentally flawed. Here's what I found.PROS:1. GREAT VIDEO. I cannot say enough about the quality of the video. I tested this dash cam with numerous video quality settings and overall, the HDR mode is the best for day and night video. However, I really liked the 45 fps recording option as it really smoothed out fast motion.2. Ample length wiring. I did not measure the length, but it was more than long enough to fit the routing through the A pillar and under the dash to the 12V plug in my center console.CONS:1. Battery powered. Why is this a con you say? When the battery dies or is defective (as in my case x2) the dash cam will beep CONSTANTLY and there is no way to mute the beeping. When plugged in the device will auto power on (as it is designed to do), except I wanted the battery to charge with the device powered off.2. There is no way to charge the device off the window mount even though there is a micro-USB port on the camera itself. That USB port is for accessing the data / video files on the micro-SD card ONLY and does not recharge the device. Hence the dilemma; a dead battery that will not charge, constant beeping, and no way to charge it with the device powered off...3. Menu buttons are lacking. There should be at least 1 more menu button. Each button has dual roles. One if you just press and release and another if you press and hold it. It really creates a messy user experience; however, typically once you set the settings you will likely leave it alone. Except if you need to flag a video so not to overwrite it then you have to dig through that messy menu.4. The video files were constantly broken up. The camera should have recorded 1 video file per drive (or power on), but the device was CONSISTENTLY recording 12-20 second clips and missing more drive time than it was recording. One trip in particular missed 45 minutes of the drive and only recorded the first 23 seconds.Unfortunately this was a time when something happened and I could have used the video... Both dash cams had the latest firmware.I managed to get 1 good recording of a 50 minute drive, but the reality is this device simply has a flawed design (despite the defective batteries). It has more flaws than benefits and functions too inconsistently to be reliable for potential evidence of an accident or other incident. I ended up returning both devices and will look for a capacitor based dash cam to replace this one.

Records Your Drive, Not Very Reliable but it also Charges Your Phone
I bought this dash cam back in December, and have used it continuously since. The included DC Power cable is great! It gives you about 10 feet of cable to route along the trim of your passenger seat, up around the door and across the top of the windshield. Mounting to the top center glass was easy and has shown no sign of coming loose. The camera sits behind my rear-view mirror, so I am not distracted by the screen while driving. As other reviewers have noted, the GPS mount dies after about a month, and you have to run power to the camera instead of the base. Also, the battery life off of USB power is a joke. The camera pretty much shuts off after disconnecting. After a few months of use, I have noted that the playback is pretty much useless away from a computer. The camera is a decent microSD card reader for playback, but might take longer to transfer and save files. Also, navigating the menus and changing settings will often cause the system to freeze, and you just gotta power off and power on to try again. I noted this crashing behavior after the first month also and factory resetting usually fixed the problem, but then you have to redo all of your personal settings.I recommend using only one microSD card in this unit, since I had a large 32GB and the included 8GB, but even when selecting only the 32GB card in slot A, the camera would still only record to slot B and not keep as long a record from past driving (since older files are automatically deleted to record new ones). All in all, the camera serves its purpose of providing a record of driving, which is good for peace of mind. Unfortunately, it does not function reliably with all the features it promises. For instance, this model includes a lane drift alarm, which will detect when you are driving off the road, but it rarely worked for me and was so quiet that it was useless with any other sounds in the car or windows down. The camera has a micro HDMI out slot, which could be used to output to a TV for real time video playback and recording. This was fun during initial testing. Also, the base of the DC power plug slides to reveal a High Capacity USB charger (2.0A, I presume). This is useful for charging a phone while driving an not having to disconnect the camera.Worth the price, if you don't expect flawless function or all the bells and whistles; also, requires some patience to operate, especially with all the crashing it does.Update: After almost 6 months of use, the cam is still working great. Firmware update made the software much more stable, but was a little tricky to install. Using the supplied 8gb microSD card for that was quick once I found the software and loaded it into the camera. The company has also been in regular contact since my review, and have sent me a replacement GPS module. Hopefully it will hold out longer than the original.
