Toilet seat makers have discontinued this type of hinge, so we have had to buy this one and fit it to a new lid and seat after removing the cheap, individual mounting bolts. The advantage of this "bar" type of hinge is that it keeps each bolt from laterally moving around from normal use. Shifting on the seat, even for people of normal weight, causes single hinge mounts to work loose. This type not only looks like a premium fit, but functionally is stronger for the job. Recommended.

Didn’t come with screws or instructions. I figured it out without instructions, but it’s useless without screws.

I’ve used these hinges before and they’re great. This time I cross-matched a leather seat with a wooden lid. The holes in each didn’t line up with the hinges that were on both toilet seat sets and this gizmo does the trick. By the way these hinges are perfect for period bathrooms.

The description clearly states that this hinge only fits the Renovators brand toilet seat and just as clearly states that the screws are not included. So, it's a trick to adapt it to another brand seat. In my case, I am replacing the hinge on a Comfort Seat wooden seat that has a similar hinge set up. But the rod on this hinge will need to be shortened and the screw holes will still not line up exactly with the original holes. But, they are close. It can be done with a little work and patience. It is a very nice looking hinge. The plastic nuts are the same junk that everyone else sells. Be sure to orient the washers just as they were shipped and ony tighten the nuts until snug. They are very easy to strip. Get someone with a good grip to tighten by hand. Ride it a couple days and re-tighten,Update. Do not waste your time or money unless you are replacing this hinge on a Renovators Brand seat.

Missing Screws.

This item is very well made. Sold metal. much better quality than the one I have now. If this is for a new installation you should be good. If you are replacing an existing one that's same style it might not work. For me the rod was too long. To make it work I would have to drill new holes in my seat or cut the rod.
