Did just what I needed

We got this to replace the threshold in our Masonite door, which was smashed in shipping. Worked great, and looks better being wood instead of plastic.

It was exactly as described, arrived on time, and fit perfectly.

Decent quality

Would have been a 5, but item was received with a slight bend, which I had to hammer out.

The nice oak adjustable strip is just raw wood and needs a finish before installation. The wood base below the aluminum extrusion is rough and has loose knots and knot holes. Be prepared to fill those before installing. For the price the threshold could be more installation ready. After some prep work it worked well. I might have chosen a less expensive option if I knew how much work it would take to get this threshold ready to install.

This threshold fixed a big problem! While renovating the house, we had to destroy the old threshold to put in new wood floors. That thing was like a battleship. It was for the door going out to the garage and it was almost 6 inches wide. The vertical gap was over 1 1/4 inches! We've done special orders and looked for months trying to find a wide, tall threshold. Finally, my wife found this one on Amazon. I installed it today!This is 36 inches but my door was exactly 32 inches wide so I cut off 2 inches on each side (to keep the leveling screws centered). First, I used a wood saw for that portion. Then I switched to a hacksaw for the aluminum. Probably could have used a power saw of some sort but I was afraid of messing it up. Surely can't afford to cut off too much! Too expensive to order a replacement. Then I took filed the edges with a mill file. My vise was invaluable in stabilizing the threshold for sawing.

As far as thresholds go, this one is really well made. Far better than any I have found and installed in the past. The sub base hardwood is better quality, which does make a difference and the oak that you do see is excellent quality. The height adjustment screws work well also. I only gave product fours in installation and value only because replacement threshold installations are never real easy and although a bit pricey, if you want a good look then spend the money.
